random 659
If you are keeping the ferrets and are still keen and have a mate willing to go with you I'm assuming you'll keep all your gear? If somewhere does come along you'll be ready at the drop of a hat,I completely understand how you feel and would be pretty confident in saying a few of us have been there at some point,I don't have a perm of my own and have to tag along but know a few bits of land through other people that I may be able to get on so live in hope! lurchers 2,890
Iv only a couple of permissions and one of them i get the cops phoned on me every time i go on it now. Some twat claiming to be the landowner. But its not its one of his neighbours. Soon as i started going on with the lurcher they started lifting the phone. Infact i got cops phoned on me for walking past the land never mind being on it. It is getting near impossible to get permissions nowadays. I felt like getting rid of the dog and ferrets at the start of the season as it seriously restricted my hunting and still is kind of. Just try share perms till something comes up. Ill share my perms with another guy i trust and he shares his with mine. Then sometimes we stray too and dont know whos land we are on . Has to be done sometimes. I've got a shared perm and the other 2 lads are on it every day/night with the bullet guns so you are lucky to get 1 rabbit.ive left them to it as ya just pissing against the wind when it's like that. bhawk 64
Like has been said, see if you can share permission. I have next to no land but my hunting partner has more than he knows what to do with. So in turn for taking me on his land, i do the driving, i bring sandwiches etc. Its a mutually beneficial arrangement and we have a good laugh. Quote Link to post
johnrthrfrd 223
Just been in touch with a lad a have a few outings with it seems it's catching been trying for ages to find some new permission but had no success so has got rid off his ferrets and chucked it. Quote Link to post

johnrthrfrd 223
Started the clear out got rid of a couple of ferrets over the holidays and one of the bedlington terriers decided he would chew the latch off one of the Crees and kill one of the old Jill's so that was another one gone. jok 3,369
To John Rutherford. (nice Scottish Borders name). The best perms we have been given, by far, do not include your normal farmer. He can tell you to shove it as far as you want. No. We've found, locally at least that the security barriers on most of our local Industrial Estates are the best way in. One bored guard, the promise of a we dram and hey presto off we go. It's happened a few times of late. Might be worth a try in your area. Quote Link to post
