COMPO 54
Went ferreting today, dropped my lad off at school then went to a farm i haven't visited yet this season, started at the roadside ferreting the strip of wood that runs along the road, using pursenets in the wood the dog paying attention to the below ground goings on found these flowers in the wood, dont know what they are, but flowers in November?? did two warrens and caught 5 rabbits, left a couple of warrens for later, had a bite to eat in the car at the roadside and spoke with the landowner as he was on his way back in, good to show your face, even better when you are carrying 5 rabbits lunchtime rest After lunch i pulled the car up the drive towards the farm yard and went to do some open sets with the longnet didn't get a pic but there were about 10 horses in this field, whilst i set up the longnet i keep the dog on her lead and the lead over the spade handle, the horses were very forward and i was suddenly aware that one was licking/biting the dog :disgust1: anyway, as i walked over the horse got its leg caught round the dog lead, the spade fell over (pulled out by the horse walking backwards) and hit the horse, causing the horse to bolt off with the lead wrapped round its front foot, the poor dog was flicked into the air and landed on her back about 5 feet away, all the horses then stampeded away , i closed my eyes fearing they would trample the dog and i was in no position to do anything, i opened my eyes to the dog running back to me and all the horses now in the distance  :paperbag1: she had a lucky escape her she is following the action as the ferrets work hard underground heres one of the workers caught 4 more rabbits from the open warren in the field, called it a day with 9 as i had to go pick my lad up from school and wanted to get home and skin the catch before getting him. Walked back to the yard, dog at heel and running through bramble and nettle patches, get to the car and the farm collie bitch comes over, fight ensues between her and my little warrior anyway my tess won chasing the collie off into the barns i think she didn't want the collie sniffing round "her" rabbits here she is when i managed to get her off the collie and back into the car, she was still a bit pissed off Edited November 23, 2007 by COMPO Quote Link to post
