I thought that too.

Nowadays they keep the price the same but you get less for the same money.

And those tins were far more useful than the plastic things you get now.

me mum keeps her sowing stuff and bits and bobs in an ole quality street tin , youre right very handy.

The very last thing this country needs is more fcuking chocolate. You could probably pave your drive with the stuff cheaper than you could do it in concrete. Drives me nuts this time of year watching big fat women with even bigger fat kids wheeling about three stone of the stuff out the supermarket on Xmas eve.., only to return on boxing day to buy more in the sales ?

Celebration anyone? ?

Why is every one so surprised when the free lunch that is dangled in front of them find out that it is not after all free? Just look around you with this servile through away consumer society, In my mind most are of the servile through away consumer society and think that it is normal and do not give a shit. Only a few families now have a Treat, this Grumpy old Man would look forward to Easter for 94% of his Chocolate, and the old rag-and-bone trade for most of his pocket money. "Weeping Violins Playing in the background "

Just my two penneth worth

All the best

Renos

P.S. 94% is just off the Top of my Head, maybe more or a bit less.

Thing is years ago well not that long I suppose in the great scheme of things we never had that many sweets or cans of pop or indeed that many take always , not like youngsters today. So once Christmas come around and mum brought home that big tin we loved it ! My father would bring home a bushel box of different fruit pomegranate star fruit tangerines bags of Brazil and hazelnuts which all got eaten just as quick as the chocolate in our house .

I think it was the same for many households mate our mothers ran a tight shift an only had a certain amount of money . If we're out playing we could come home and have a glass of water no cans of coke. A takeaways was fish and chips not kebabs kfc or anything else like that , my mother made cakes or fruit pies on a Sunday and that was it . So to me with all the sweets and good food at Christmas brings back good memories it was a time when working class families celebrated and let loose. Good times !
