desertbred 5,490
Pay a kings ransomor get a pup gifted it wont alter what will be will be. You can go for names and lines to try to get head start on what work you need to put in, its just as easy to f**k a top bred up as it is a mutt. The equation only becomes balanced when the dog gets out and performs or does not once put to work. If it was all down to lines and breeding then their would be no dogs to be peddled as they would all be champs. Some like the price tag as a label others like particular lines or breeding,a good stock man will get the best out of a mediocre dog a clown will as the saying goes f**k an iron ball up. You decide the value of your dog its either a mortgage or its not for sale . The lad feeding and caring for his dog should know his dog its capable or not a bulled up top dog will be found out either on the land or down the line by progeny the enjoyment of any working dog is the be all and end all for some lads money and fameis the magnet for others thats the dog game for you, Get out enjoy your dogs warts and all when they give you enjoyment in the freezing sleet or the pissing down rain how can you put a price on that. 7 Quote Link to post
king 11,972
Just an example here if coursing was your game and you was offered the winner of the Waterloo cup 2 yrs ago from a friend for say 2k. or a pup out of it for 1k. What do you do. try and get your own line going by breeding and that could take you a he'll of a long time Or pay your money for a pup that's got generations behind it ? And the prices quoted are just an example. Quote Link to post

FUJI 17,208
What have any of dons previous pups done that warrant a high price tag aswell Andy? Genuine question? I never reared the pups Don,the bitches he sired were my bro in laws and my friend,i never asked a penny off either ..Don dog has caught stacks of gear trust me,nigh on a thousand beasts,10 being his best during the day with 5 charlies the same day,big numbers on the lamp, digging with the terriers, ferreting,he can do the whole shebang..he has fuckall to prove to anyone me included.. There will NEVER EVER be a pup bred off him given away by me,he wont EVER line a bitch other than what i own myself if ever? So if i do breed off him it will be for £400-£500 a pup,you play around with your half decent dogs if your happy with that? Too much shite strewn across the country by fkn idiots gifting rubbish to anyone who wants to take one on? Some folk think a good dog worth breeding off is one thats had one good night,a charlie,a few beasts lol..that don't impress me im afraid it obviously does you? Keep on with your gifts, you never know you might strike lucky haha 6 Quote Link to post
Dan25 87
Com on is £500 a lot of money that you will have for years spend a lot of time with put s lot into it also I think it will give u a bit of a push to get the best from your dog if I bred I would give close mates a pup but if a stranger wanted one why would you give it away that's the problem to much shit about for very little money so anyone can get hold of a Lurcher and then mess it up for everyone else if all lurcher started at £500 people would have to consider getting one and I bet half the people who use these dogs wouldn't Quote Link to post
