riohog 5,858
rearing pups correctly does not come cheap .not that i breed dogs .but if i did ,there will be a cost to any new homes .so if you want a free dog go to the dog pound. or just save your pocket money till you can aford one.oh and giving them away free to mates doesnt work folr me , fortunatly i have no mates ,, old saying a friend in need is a fkn nuisence . 1 Quote Link to post
nothernlite 18,138
Only bred one litter in my years of having dogs and wouldn't say it cost a fortune Quote Link to post
riohog 5,858
See Rio that I have no probs with, helping to cover costs of pups, but why the fook should I pay for mcosts to sire and dams rearing and working pmsl lollol we talking about dogs that could not work, dogs that could get killed on any given run lol not some of show dogs( no offence by the way lol). I intend on breeding my bitch, and the costs will be covered with what my bitch catches, and shit pups would be gifted. And they could have been off don dog aswell as I was allowed to use him lollol fkn peddler 1 Quote Link to post
arcticgun 4,548
If it where say the sport of horse racing would you still expect foals etc for free out of proven stock? People pay silly money for luxury cars should they not instead get a Ford Focus? Instead of a massive five bed house surely a tent should suffice Lurchers n working dogs aside any other type of dog you could pay brewsters for pedigree breeding rarity etc considered Giving dogs away too mates for free can easily go wrong plus how would keen new starters ever get anything decent? Litters I've had always been a mix of gifts and sells, I try too get best owners and offer buy back too original buyer for one year after that they on there own The ones sold not only cover initial rearing costs but put back into the dogs themselves feed portamags kennels vets Edited December 21, 2015 by arcticgun 2 Quote Link to post

nans pat 2,575
What have any of dons previous pups done that warrant a high price tag aswell Andy? Genuine question? exactly..a few photos prove nothing i would need to see both parents run before i would even think about a pup buying or free,as i was saying earlier theres promotion teams behind a lot of these over priced dogs photos of lamped hares taken the next day 4,outta 4 ect even defrosted hares used in photo shoots .then getting mates to comment on posts bumming dogs up,then their tested and found wanting but to late if your 500 nicker down for the pup thats a wastrel, seen it to many times. 2 Quote Link to post

DeerhoundLurcherMan 997
My dog was £450 as a pup and I had my money's worth in his first season! And now I've got another 6/7 seasons for free! Haha! I'll take a pup out of him for nothing too, and one out of that one, and one out of that one! You are buying into a line, once you have it you can do what you want with it. Could last you a lifetime... Decent dogs attract a decent price for a reason it needs no explanation... If someone wants to give them away, great! I'll have two lol. But I wouldn't expect it.. 1 Quote Link to post
Phil Lloyd 10,738
As an enthusiast,...if I want something,..I will pay the price,...money is a fleeting thing,.it comes and by feck,.it soon goes.. A good hearted jukel is a fabulous possession,...(even more so, if you are working for wages)....so,..I don't have a problem with paying my way,...a freebie is nice, of course it is,..and in an ideal world,..lurcher and terrier pups,..plus ferret kits would always be gifted ,..but,..speaking personally,...I never argue over vonga,.. 1 Quote Link to post
Lenmcharristar 10,029
My 10 p worth, buying in ready made dogs is fine, as long as they have been trained right and come back when called and are stock broken, sometimes it just suits people who just don't want a pup. Now this to me is where I'd rather go, get a 8 week old pup, learn it from scratch, teaching it it's field sense from a young age right through to the day it lifts it's 1st rabbit, then progresses to the bigger stuff, there's a massive feel good factor within ones self when you see your better half doing what it was bred to do and all the time you 2 spent together in the field has now paid off only then you will see if you have done right by the dog, as for it taking teeth well that's up to the dog on that part.
