runem 533
My running dog has some whippet in her and she did this... Sometimes still does.... Why? i have owned various whippets and whippet types over the years,my grandad and great grandad going back to the 1910 used to do rag racing with whippets ,they both said "their dogs would catch a rabbit and pin it with their feet and just mouth the rabbit",,,,,,,,not really sure why they do it could be a retrieving training fault maybe a size issue if the dog only weighed 14/15 pounds,My great grandad raised whippets in Failsworth nr Manchester next to a train track. cooper101 86
Did u teach it too retrieve before you took it out??? If so then as already said don't walk too the pup walk away it's frustrating but never get annoyed or show your pissed off with the pup or you will never get a retrieve....I'd play retrieve with the dead bunny or a rabbit fur dummy and make sure it has defiantly mastered it before going back into the field too run it...
