I use betadine spray, ointment or liquid solution to clean wounds. I use hibiscrub to wash my hands before I touch the wound. Witton keep it CLEAN and bath it twice a day, if your mate can staple get him to put a few in but leave a drain at the bottom. The vets will insist on putting it under and charge you a small fortune for doing it and IMO it is not necessary.

:clapper::clapper: betadine is good stuff and ideal for that wound, hibiscrub i use for mange and yes i know its used in the hospital by surgeons to wash there hands, my mrs uses it all the time, mark

if the wound is as small as you say it is. "half an inch" then just leave it and it will heal from the inside out and then scar tissue will be very strong. just make sure that it stays clean. with stictches or staples the wound can be very liable to reopen when under tension.

It was barb wire.....and i don't care how long you have been around dogs...i was there and i seen it.

And what are you on about? when have i said this dogs good? Ask any lad from round here and they will tell you i think this dog is shit.....she couldn't kill a fox on her own and doesn't like getting bitten....

She is just a little rabbiting bitch that likes to get stuck in on pretty much oat.

Clear fences for fun????

She dont jump and what...

The cut was the result of running something through a hedge...that had some old wire running through it.

Your a complete wanker in my books and its twats like you that make me want to stop f*****g posting or infact even looking at the boards.

this lad has already said the dog was coursing fox and if that lad says that dog is as good as he says it is, it should clear fences for fun. and ive seen worse bites off foxses that have layed dogs off for weeks,

For f**k sake...where did i say this dog was coursing a fox?????? I said that im abit gutted because i could do with this bitch to help get my pup going on retrieving shot fox. Like i said before your a f*****g wanker......what is it my age???? What ever it is you need to get your head out your arse. Iv got alot of friends on here and the thread was more to show them that the bitch is layed up. I wasn't doing anything illegal when the accident happened and she certainly wasn't on a fox. I was supposed to be out last night with worldhunter and his uncle to show his uncle the bitch and his pup run. Im so f****n close to askign to be stuck off this forum it takes the piss....lets all sit and not post....that will be an interesting forum wont it. Ferreter how about this the rspca will be kicking my door down so why don't you keep your f*****g nose out of it and f**k off.....and as for the rspca they are welcome anytime iv got nothing to hide here.

woooooooo. sorry i must have read it wrong.

however back to the advise thing, i cut a non cancerous tumor off of one of my horses about four weeks ago, about the same size as a side plate, and because the skin could not be stretched together i left it open and it slowly closed up. stapples swon't do any harm there, but if there isn't much blood then i wouldn't worry about getting them

wont do any ham to leave it open if you keep it clean. cut my arm in august and hospital consultant left that open and it was just a bit smaller. when it was stitched just bled inside my arm :icon_eek:
