desertbred 5,490
Make sure support is adeqhate under your instep unless you are flat footed. When you commence or up the walking distances as you start try to keep off tarmac or concrete roads as this will jar the shins and place extra pressure on the lower leg muscles and tendons walk grass and plough at a steady pace but as with marching break step every so often and also vary your pace. One of the most important is a good solid pair of boots not trainers or desert boots, go for a good walking boot or a general purpose military boot, with a good pair of socks, the more you walk the stronger the muscles become andyou will find shin pain and cramps gradually disappear.
