Matthew Phillips 36
Anyone got some antibiotics I could buy for my terrier? Got a bit of a puncture wound to his back leg and want to take precautionary measures. Thanks 2 Quote Link to post

leethedog 3,071
Treating your on dog is against the law and antibiotics are persciption only unless you are treating fish it's all the same stuff 2 Quote Link to post
Matthew Phillips 36
I rang the vet to ask the cost and they said £30 to see the vet and then about £30-50 for the antibiotics depending on the type. I said that I don't need to see the vet I just need the antibiotics, nope, I have to see the vet. I've got pet plan but that's good for sold all with the £90 excess! Quote Link to post
pablo esc 1,598
Wasn't it all right to clean your own animal up, unless it too bad you'd go the vet?. And antibiotics you were, or are allowed to use for your own but not for some one else's? Quote Link to post
leethedog 3,071
Not here it's not antibiotic is strictly persciption only for all mammals but not fish Quote Link to post
dillydog 8,463
It's just another hoop to jump through, it's a mad world when your dogs got more rights than you and your kids. 4 Quote Link to post
foxbolter 447
Go to a farm near to you and ask him to jab dog with penicillin and tell him u will help him dip sheep or whatever Quote Link to post
the goat 642
Keep it clean..IF It's getting better don't bother with antibiotics. I wouldn't bother anyway unless it's infected or swollen. Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Puncture wound does not require preventative drugs .Clean your dog up properly and it will be ok .The reason antibiotics are prescriotion only is to avoid overuse and promote correct use .Antibiotics should be a cure not a prevention .Dogs are very hardy when bit ,cut and most heal unaided with only regular cleaning of the wound . 8 Quote Link to post
Joseph123 9
Only thing i might need is a plastic collar to stop your dog licking the wound and keep opening it back up again will heal in no time Quote Link to post
