Somewhereyournot 1,117
Iv often wondered the point in adding something to look at breeding it out? Iv got a collie grey x beardy grey x grey at the minute and he's plenty quick enough and doing ok if the injuries stay at bay, but on the other hand if he's sat in kennel he won't learn. So far I don't think he's too clever. Always time for that to change I suppose but I think it would of happened by now. I'm hoping to get hold of a collie bred lurcher next year, hence me question the half x types and their ability. As mine at the minute work out as 3/4 1 Quote Link to post
roybo 2,873
N For me the collie infusion represents Stamina ,intelligence, good feet and coat and temperament . The greyhound for obvious reasons, after being a die hard collie greyhound man for years I tried a bull cross stud a few years back and I was very happy with the pups, so much that I have got a litter here out of a very similar bred stud. My 1st cross bitch is too intelligent sometimes and the little bit of bull x seems to cancel a bit of that out. Photos of my bitch and a few pups from the last litter. The brindle one with the white collar is a nice stamp 1 Quote Link to post

TOMO 26,482
Surly you guys realise what I said was tongue in cheek..? If I was ever to take a litter from this bitch ,,it would most likely be back to a more collie saturated dog 1 Quote Link to post

paulsmithy83 567
I never really look in to percentages because iv seen dogs from the same litter look and act totally different , it's a lottery pick your breeding and hope for the best I say it usually comes down the bloke holding the lead ! right about the percentages nothing cut and dry in dog world but can have the best of breeding and best man behind the lead but if the dog aint got it in it to develope you aint gonna get very far. I truly believe a good dog man will get best out of that said animal but you cant polish a turd and unfortunatly many turds even come out of the best of breeding 1 Quote Link to post

fluff 409
wouldnt have strait collie cant beat a bit good saluki blood in him, had some good collie crosses ,but hard to keep the line going Quote Link to post
Somewhereyournot 1,117
Had a pup with saluki in it, it had to go. Got to the point where I couldn't bond with it because how it was so it went. Il stick to my collie xs from now on as I find these suit me better than terrier/saluki and deerhound types. Il just get one from good stock, that Iv already got my eye on. Quote Link to post
