Started to train the lurcher to the whistle anybody else like there lurcher trained to whistle

Hi,

yeah, my little one (whippet x terrier thing). took to it good & quick, just started out peeping & when she looked up gave treat.

was told that a 'come back' should be 3x peeps.

 

when she goes a bit to far it'll get he back quickly, she'll also turn back if she's running, quicker than a call.

 

beats shouting, or sticking fingers in ya mouth

 

i use the acme 5.5.

Yep, mine comes in and will sit to the whistle ... Pup will hopefully be the same

I use the adjustable acme whistle. Only for recall or to call in close by. I got a shit whistle and when winds in face Its hard that's why I bought mine. I find once you set the tone, it's brilliant. So much more consistent which benefits the dog by him knowing what u want and now.

I use a Shepherds whistle,....when needed...

Yeah pup has taken to it three short sharp toots to get her to come to me , one sharp toots to sit but I like to have a down command on whistle don't know if shooting guys have one for down

Tried them a few times but kept losing them or forgot to put in my pocket.just use my mouth or fingers cant be arsed with a whistle.only really use two sounds one to come in and one to tell them to be alert

I use an Acme to recall mine, she,ll also work to hand signals to some extent, i dont over do the training these days as long as recall is spot on iam happy enough.
