jonnie bravo 572
Cushty, I have had them on all methods in the cold... They bite all year round- fly, worm and maggot you name it. You can't get through to the grayling and Chu for them sometimes!! 1 Quote Link to post

jok 3,292
Mate. That little worm works like magic. A little stream called Allen Water, tributory to the Majestic Tweed yields many a good sized trout on the worm. You don;t even have to hide yourself as the water is normally colored. (is this American as coloured is coloured). Quote Link to post
leegreen 2,181
River fishing is finished for trout. Yes trout eat worms in the cold. Optimum temperature for trout fishing is 12-15 degrees, but trout will feed at lower temperatures, they are just less active. 1 Quote Link to post

jok 3,292
Don't know if he means Finished or finessed. I think the deal is that trout will be reluctant to feed as there is or are little in the way of fly and larvae. In comes the worm. As the temperature drops in the water there is a disinclination to feed. Now where we come from that's where the salmon and seatrout come in to there own. Either that or a big dive hanging on to a tennis net Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
Think he means that trout are out of season now, winter is there breeding season/close season. The salmon/sea trout have a later season I think but they are on a separate migratory rod license and I think there probably out of season by now too. 2 Quote Link to post
