Accip74 7,112
Why IS this a Christian country? What right does a religion have over a country? I'm British and I didn't sign up for any religious shite. It's not all about Christianity vs Islam. I don't want either, all both have ever done is caused agro. How can it possibly bother you so much? Next you'll be getting upset that no one believes in the easter bunny or tooth fairly anymore. I don't go to church. I don't believe in god but this is a Christian country, whether you subscribe to that idea or not. I never mentioned Islam. I don't want any more of our traditions eroded away whatever the reason. WHY is this a christian country? Because 60% of the people who live here are and we were here first. Are they? Or are most of those folk just box tickers who do so out of 'fear' etc. Are you really telling me that 60% of the population in the U.K structure their lives around the bible and christianity? And were you? The pagans might have something to say about that. . . . they are a legitimate religion and were here long before the Christians came and persecuted them and forced their beliefs upon them. . . . . I wouldn't say fear as such, but a lack of other collective labels..... My mum always use to say we were C of E......of course we wasn't, none of our family were remotely Christian in our beliefs or went to church .....but we wasn't catholic, Jewish or Muslim & she wasn't going to describe us as heathens was she? haha... I think 60% Christian is bullshit tbh...........but I could be wrong :-)

Can't answer that mate as I don't really know the ins and outs of religion, but I would think more people try to live peaceful lives and do right by people than not. No I wasn't a box-ticker. I don't mind people knowing my preferences. (religiously speaking of course.) The pagans are legitimate, but they don't make up over half the population do they? Blackdog92 2,047
theres talk here of banning prayers in morning assembely in schools, council meetings ect .which imo can only be a good thing. Thats one thing i mever agreed with at public schools that they push christianity fair enough if its a private school and you have sent your kids there because of your faith. socks 32,253
A question for all you guys that say your not Christian ... If you died tomorrow what would your relatives do with your body? I hazard a guess you will be buried or cremated and a minister will carry out the ceromony which will be a Christian one because we live in a Christian country irrespective of how many actually practice the faith the fact remains .........
kanny 20,639
Although I don't follow the Christian faith I have been like most of us bought up to follow Christian values that are the foundation of our country so to undermine those values go's against everything Ive been raised up to be.
just-A-snap 1,269
Because most of the law of the land is based on Property and Christianity, no one is forced to Believe, and because of that you do not get your hands or head cut off or stoned to death, but who gives a shit lets change that witch has taken Fifteen Hundred years or so to Build and sell the country to the highest bidder Saudi Arabia. We are at this very moment fighting in a Crusade if you want to Believe it or Not, but lets not support those brave Men and Women of our Armed Forces because we somehow live in a none Christian Country the moment they left this island. Some feel very safe in Ivory Towers, but when the shit hits the fan are always the first to complain about the loss of their God Given Human Rights. If I died tomorrow, I'd be cremated. Not out of religious belief, but mostly to stop me stinking up the yard. I would have a non-religious service because that's what i want. When my Mum died, we had a Christian service for her beacuse that's what she would have wanted. But whatever my personal beliefs, we do live in a Christian country. However pedantic you want to be. NEWKID 27,210
Went to a scientology funeral last year (mrs auntie).. now that was f***ing weird. Whether you are religious or not the country is based on Christian values, and laws....other religions are the minority, the same as in most western countries, although this whole thing seems like a lot of bullshit to me, even talking about changing traditions, laws etc to appease the minority seems ludicrous to me.. Infact I very much doubt 90% of the people who practice minority religions in this country give a shit, it's the apologists and left wing nutters that want to change things that no one even gives a shit about.
NEWKID 27,210
My guess if every one was truly honest with themselves Atheism would be at the top closely followed by Christianity... Then take your pick out of a collection of other religions, beliefs and strange cults!! lo
