Just out of interest martin do you bush for rabbits much and if so are they just as keen for them as they are for other stuff. atb fella.

they were bred for flushing fox pal, but they do work rabbit he had 1 in cover today. but if it were just rabbits i were after i would probably go more terrier or spaniel and less on the beagle side.

i just think he relies on the older bitch to much, its her who finds 9/10 times, hes probably more terrier like than hound he doesn't work off as far and doesn't hold a line as well as his mam, (but that can be a good thing in some places). hes also not as athletic as the 1st cross she can jump the sheep netting with double wire on top were he can just about jump in back of car. haha. maybe i judge him off his mams standards to much instead of just enjoying him for what he his.

have ever tried taking him on his own or with other dogs instead of his mother Martin?? atb cbx

had him out with a mate and his little terriers and he does work well with them. but im out most of the time on my own. i should have took him a few times a week on his own when he was younger, would of probably made him abit more independant. will be getting the new pup out alot on his own this time.

Never too late to try?

Get him out on his own a fee times so he can't lean on his mum for sport and he'll probably start getting his head down. It's too easy for him at the moment just to follow others.
