unlacedgecko 1,466
Been a while since we had a working Wheaton thread. Is there anyone working one alongside their earth dogs? My life is not suited to such an animal at the moment, but in the future I quite fancy getting one, probably once I move to somewhere more terrier friendly. Quote Link to post

howdeeposxxt 1,448
People have their own views on wheatons and now their very few and far between but I had a wheaton bitch that my grandfather gave to me as a pup . She was as small as a big pat these days, I remember digging some big earths with her she did 16 hours one time and almost the same as that a year after I was immature with the earth I brought her to but she never failed not even as much as a budge when she had settled that was were she was staying I wish I had her now but then would their be a good dog to cover her , and would they come small enough i doubt it. My memory of the wheaton that I had was a very good one. I will never forget her I bet their was some great ones out their / like wise shit to but that comes with all terriers but their must be a good reason why they are not used today. Generally because they're too big. I meant as a strong dog. I remember seeing pics of a bull x Wheaton by the Irish lads, but can't remember his name. Nice looking dog though. Quote Link to post

I reckon there are plenty good wheatens still about just the lads that have them keep them to them selves and rightly so.The wheaten in the right hands is a usefull tool but when the wrong sort have them thats where they get a bad name. 3 Quote Link to post
