my apologies I thought you ment the torch,, I have found the best thing to use is the window tint you put on cars and 50%, certainly cuts any glare down but doesn,t effect the picture on the screen

I had decided to get an NV system and because of cost, it would need to be a home build. The bottom line is that I just didn't want to build one and found one on ebay that has already been bought by a few guys on another forum with nothing but glowing reports so I coughed up £200 and it arrived yesterday.

 

I have only had the chance to play around in the garden but to be honest it seems spot on.

 

 

All the batteries are housed in the camera box so nice and neat. The charger plugs directly into the camera box so no battery removal and has short circuit protection for charging. The camera tube/connector is made out of milled out solid plastic bar not plumbing or rubber hose which is superbly finished with large 'O' rings to offer a grip with wet hands. Please don't get me wrong the connectors used by most home builds are totally fine, I just liked the fact that these are custom made.

There is also a socket to plug in a recording device if needed.

 

 

The tube is held in place on the scope with three plastic bolts, two of which are set up and left at that whilst the third is used to fasten the camera unit in place.

 

I had a spare camera bag lying around at home which holds the complete outfit and IR torch.

 

 

It is far too early for me to say that this unit is fantastic but others who use this item would lead me to believe that it is a sound product that does it's job well.

The TV screen night vision sets, are they practically, just for recoilless air rifles? I have rat wars in and around my duck run. Using poison at present to some success, traps to not much success (though I bought a fen trap and yet to use it) and thinking of some direct action.

My bunny gun is a scruffy HW35 and it certainly isn't recoilless.

Better on a PcP but as long as its secure enough will be fine, even if the camera moves your zero shouldn't.

I just hate them , imo you dont have proper control over your gun shooting from the hip !!!!

 

We all get taught how to shoulder, ,breath , trigger pull , these TV things take all that away

 

Try shooting with some body who have a TV screen close by to you ,they so bloody annoying

The trick is to have a scope long enough to mount it far forward, then position the screen so it is at eye level!

 

Edited to add, with the camera and display positioned like this there is no need to shoot from the hip!

I can really understand where you are coming from but the bottom line is the costs involved with the super units you use, I would love one but I just can't afford one at the moment.

 

I was doing a bit of practice with my set up using the Trigger Grip tripod the other night in the garden which works very well but my god it will take some getting used to in the field that is for sure. Long term I want a Pulsar or X-Site or similar but the pension only goes so far, I will be glad when the state pension kicks in, a bit more cash in my pockets then.

I have a home made NV. As good as one 5 times the cost bought. TV shootin is not something I enjoy but the rabbits round me are majorly lamp shy. The best way I have found is to sit on a tall bucket, makes it easier to support the gun steadily and handy for carryin the kill in. Think Im guna get one of those with spinning seat on top. Hardest thing is getting range right so if possible you are best off getting some markers set up at set distances, or sit 30 yard from where you expect the target to be i.e. if you are ratting at barns etc. obviously no good if you are covering some ground. If Im out for a wander with mine I get it set up so its in focus at 30-40yards that way I know if its out of focus its out of range that I would be shooting at on NV.
