nothernlite 18,080
Bad crack when lads try to incriminate other lads. I thought TB25 was born in 1960 which meant digging to badger was perfectly legal when he was a lad. I might be wrong. But nobody needs to know if I am. you seem like one off those pepole who ends up getting a good kicking what upset you fonzy? run out of cheeseburgers?thinks he's cool Quote Link to post

border lad 1,047
It takes a better dog to do the hare single handed, there was never any slaughter on Hare coursing daylight, Give the hare 60to 100 yards Law, Takes a handy dog to take his quarry, 2ND on the list Deer, especially the Roe, they Panic and are easy quarry,3rd rabbits, All Edible and for the pot, No waste, Top organic food, along with salmon, pheasant, partridge, for me thats what Hunting was about, along with your good dog, 10 Quote Link to post
gamerooster 1,179
Amen to that border lad, but I have to disagree on the slaughter of hares, all coursing was before the ban was a numbers game, the dog that killed the most was the best, and to add insult to boot they where just scopped in the ditch and left to rot, it why I fell out with competitive coursing and was just happy to do my own thing, I can't stand killing for killings sake 8 Quote Link to post

rough dog 333
what ever your quarry the field craft is a major factor for me ....get your dogs as fit as you can ,get to a spot and use them for what they were bread for. Take your quarry and move on with total respect for the land owners and the quarry itself. A true dog man is a true conservationist . I didn't have a favourite quarry pre ban ...I loved the excitement ,the challenge, and the banter on a Sunday night in the local with the dog boys telling the stories of the night before or the same morning. I miss those days , these days in my local you are a cruel fxcker if you have lurchers and unless you can talk about football rugby or darts then your on your own. I have walked these mountains for over 30 years with my dogs and these days I get frowned at by dog walkers and ramblers who have all appeared from nowhere. In this area these days there are less dog men about and less quarry..... so like the great post on here about the Waterloo Cup it shows the ban is backfiring . 16 Quote Link to post

I wasn't bothered by what quarry aslong as my dog hunted it and had ago it doesn't make a difference ! Leave the land like it was before you got there A lot more walkers around these days everyone's either a fitness freak or wanna be mountian man lately tried to keep my lurchers smaller and not draw to much attention to myself 3 Quote Link to post
pablo esc 1,598
What was also a waste was that people had to leave at times a dead hare, etc in a ditch when it can be eaten by you or your dog, what woud a bad cop do now if u had it and dog,get a autopsey? Ffs, not as if scarce in some places, the more chance of gettn killed another way. As some people get older u learn to respect old places. Also more when te ban was coming and antis , lots just had enough and was killn tem all. A shame on a good way of life an hobby. Oh well, hunt on respect the quarry and dog 3 Quote Link to post
