Recommended Posts

Recently got a bsa r10 from a member of here, the gun itself is a dream to shoot, can't fault it, and neither can my local gun Smith. ... my issue is the groupings are erratic, I'm not the world's best shot but I'm not that bad, any ideas what it could be down to? I'm using the pellets the fella I got it off recommended, so all I can think of is the mag or scope.... aby help appreciated

Some of the pellets are falling threw, just fired 30 shots and the 3rd and 7th pellet are dead on, the rest are slightly off, so hoping it's the mag

Iv seen this rifle in action and iv seen it group well very well in fact, it must be the scopes as he has never had an issue with it and he is one of the lads i shoot with iv seen this rifle take down pray one after the other .

what scope have you got fitted to it

It is the one with a shrouded barrel mate, some pellets are harder to feed than others, and some don't sit to well in the mag

Is the mag one of the old ones or the new ones i fecking hate the old type ones nothing but bother

and have you try,d any other pellets in her just to see what there like for fitting and grouping you will need to clean the barrel first before you try another kind of pellet

Bench test it. Put it in a vice or workmate and test fire a few groups at range.

That will eliminate operator error!!

Repeat this a few times and then top up the air and try again.

Test it with the mod on and off and see what you end up with.

That's what i mean bud, the rifle itself is unreal, not having a dig at all about it, the annoying thing is I've already took a rabbit, pigeon, crow and dare I say it a pheasant, all head shots, it's like one pellet is bang on and the next flies of miles off mark.... I've got a hawke sport HD on it, which I was warned the gun wasn't keen on, there was a mtc mamba on it I think, there was one for sale on here but I missed it!!!

The older type mags wear easily and don't index.

Fill the mag and if you can take note of the ones that are a tight fit or loose and see if those are the ones that fly wide if they do then the mag may need new O rings or you may need a new mag

as i say.d before if its an old style one there nothing but bother .

try cleaning the barrel any way

And i no your not having a dig mate , i would be the same

The new mags are mint they index them self's so dose away with the indexing pin ,pellets fit better and all the bother of the old ones is history

not cheap mind but well worth it in the end .

and a little oil on the old style mag dose not go amiss ether

Your local gun Smiths advice was?

You implying we dont know what we are talking about

Not meant in that way at all. My thinking was bad batch of pellets, tin, or tins. Gun Smith must have given some kind of advice.
