higgins 75
the main thing is finding out that were not tied down to B&F kit although it's good, like Deben in the past they ruled the terrier world with their equipment, now they are nothing except in the ferreting world, we have a choice if we are prepared to experiment with avalanche equipment, all the frequencies and principles are the same but the equipment used for finding avalanche victims are better and more reliable, Higgins. higgins 75
Apparently BF have a new collar on trial to replace the existing one thats not as bulky.. it's half the size, in a sealed unit and can be charged up instead of using batteries.. but it's not going on sale till end '08... look forward to blowing a few more quid then..!! don't know what everyone moans about price, if i don't spend my money on my dogs my mrs will blow it on herself... better one bitch than another!!! jodyfoxhunter is there a link to the source where you gained this info from,i'm sure many people would be interested in this, that is good news on the size of the collar, but would the price now go up also? nelson 0
,that is good news on the size of the collar, but would the price now go up also?Higgins. You can bet your sweet ass it will go up. B&F have got a market pretty much sewn up at the moment and the only thing that will bring down the price is competition. I can almost gaurantee the price of the B&F stuff will have been set by some body who thought, ' How much are people willing to pay?' That is how the world does business. Quote Link to post
JODYFOXHUNTER 0
higgins...was told by the lad at BF when i ordered a kit on thursday... sounded like he knew what he was talking about to be fair... i know they're pricey but you get what you pay for... at least someones investing their money in developing the option for us, people dont have to buy it... i'd rather have the option to spend a few quid and get something good than be at a point where companies think terrier work is as good as banned so the only thing we can do is carry on using knockers... New kit was delivered sat morning... been out excited for it's first un this morning but as much as i looked i could not find... did find a couple of new single holers that got the heart racing, pile of spoil out of them.. prints.. and yes you know the crack.. f%^k all in em.... matulkoh 66
recharging collar, so new access for water and dust, better chance to break down, why? to sell more collars? why if the collar can run 300h hours, how long will run this recharged one, all rechargable machines, batteries are waeker than normal one. higgins 75
Matulhoh is right about the rechargeable batteries, some of the transciever manufacturers do not reccomend these rechargeable batteries as their life is reduced after so many charges, they only reccomend alkaline batteries for better performance. Bryan 1,362
does the deben long range collar transmit at the same frequency as the B+F collars and the Ortovox ones? Bryan Quote Link to post
Guest john the baptist
Higgins, having just lost a terrier to ground the other day (p.sherries bitch actually), I AM 100% sure this bitch would still be alive now if we'd been using the b+f . We were using the old deben and got the dreaded feckin screeeeech instead of a positive mark. I am now waiting in for mr postman with my brand new b+f. £293 is nothing compared to the shite feeling of not being able to find your terrier, or even worse, digging to a dead dog. Get yer hand in yer pocket mr Higgins ya tight git. lol. See you over the holls for a dig maybe fella. regards, John. Quote Link to post

I USED THE MK1 AND MK3 IN THE PAST, BUT DECIDED TO WAIT AFTER A MARK WHICH WAS APPROX. 4.5 FOOT OUT, MK3 WAS SENT BACK TO DEBEN TO BE TESTED, ONLY TO BE SENT BACK TO BE TOLD THAT IT GIVES AN APPROX. READING ON SEARCH , BUT IT WAS THE LOCATE THAT WAS OUT AS WELL. OH AND WE GOT TRADING STANDARDS IN TO TRY AND SORT IT OUT, ME AND A MATE HAVE SPENT 100S OF POUNDS IN THE SHOP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED, AND WE ARE NOW BARRED FOR LIFE THEY WERENT GOING TO GET OUR CUSTOM AGAIN ANYWAY AND I HOPE THE SMARMY LITTLE C**T IS ON THIS SITE CAUSE AND DEBEN EVEN THERE BATTERY PACKS ARE A LOAD OF S***E, NOW GOT A BELLMAN AND WOULDNT USE ANYTHING ELSE,SO THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS GET A BELLMAN AND FLINT Quote Link to post

JTB,sorry your mate lost his dog,i thought you were already using B&F equipment, there's no way i would use Deben for a terrier anymore, maybe for ferrets, and i will be be buying one soon, look forward to getting out on a dig soon pal,by the way you have a pm on smoochers. Bryan, the long range deben is not worth having,as above spend that bit more for the right equipment as they are better for searching longer ranges horizontally and vertically,if they use these things to find people they have to be reliable and very accurate, Higgins Edited December 18, 2007 by higgins Quote Link to post
