dave mac 58 Posted November 27, 2015 Report Share Posted November 27, 2015 took the borders for a walk out yesterday, weather was poor, rain damp, was surprized at the amount of rabbits still on top dogs had a few to go at, put up a small deer as well which came right by me in the bramble,today the weather was good and sunny took the dogs for awalk out and they put up afew more rabbits out, but to top it off as they were in the brambles out flew this bird, at first i thought it was a kessy or hawk of some kind [the sun was at my back] it flew right in front of me and landed on the short grass, it was a woodcock,it was only 12 ft away what beautifull bird it is, ive put them up befor but never seen one up close like this,the sun was showing the colours of the bird, thats what i like about bushing you never know whats about . 4 Quote Link to post
squab 2,875 Posted November 27, 2015 Report Share Posted November 27, 2015 mine put the odd one up in the woods but they up and away and should imagine a left and a right on a pair with a shotty is not very common,like you say though i seen far more game with a couple bushers knocking about the cover than i ever did 2 Quote Link to post

dave mac 58 Posted December 4, 2015 Author Report Share Posted December 4, 2015 took the 2 out this morning for alook adout , went to see if they were intrested in going to ground, when i got to the 3 holer they were not at all interested, just rolled around in the grass and bracken,so i walked about 20yards away the dog got a whiff of something and off he went, then he started yapin he was going away from me,i called the bitch to me and just listened to him, next thing a cracker of a fox came running by not 20yards to the side of me, the bitch seen it and was off, the dog came back the same way as the fox, i called to him and got him by me, he was panting abit and wanted to go off again but i held him,then the bitch was yapin but it wernt no fox it was a hare,in all, agood walk out ,i dont have a lurcher now but when i did she caught afew hares from this place,and if i had her today she would of snapped these 2 up.i wonder if the hares come into the wood because of the wet weather, fields, 1 Quote Link to post
