Zimpara 99
Is this one? Also another quick question, I just started trying out some H&N FTT 5.53 and they're tight! Very tight. Does consitant seating improve accuracy as its quite hard to seat them flush in the TX200. Does the tight fit reduce FPS? I shot twice at two crows just now, and they both had flown off from the firing noise by the time the pellet hit branches right behind them. About 50metres. JSB and AA field fly much faster I'm thinking? Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
Yes that is most defiantly a 'ragged one hole' group Consistent seating in the breech does help accuracy. Accuracy after all is just consistency. Hence why most 'target' shooters hand load there pellets one by one... with a magazine, you can never guarantee a perfect alignment/seating. Dont get me wrong, again, the differences are marginal, but when its down to a points game, that ill seated pellet could get make you miss out on a knock down or a bull. A tight fit maybe, very very fractionally reduce FPS but nothing worth noting. If the rifle is shooting tight as you like groups with tight pellets... use them. Yours clearly is. We've all shot feathered targets before and they've flew off. Its the name of the game. One of you best posts yet this. 1 Quote Link to post
David.evans 5,323
That grouping is getting better . I doubt if the crows flew off mate , you missed , at 50 m your pellet would still strike them befor the sound or the gun ! Poor excuse there zimpa lol You porky teller ! Lol Atb Mate Dave Ps try a smaller skirt , you should not have to force them in Quote Link to post
philpot 5,053
I have just got some H&N Sniper Medium in .177 and although I have only tried them in the garden as the range is closed for a refurb, they look to do well. The shape is quite different to most other pellets with a small/lower skirt which might help, perhaps worth a go. http://www.uttings.co.uk/p120887-handn-sniper-medium-pellets-177-x-500-hnsnl177/#.VlRWY3bhAdU Phil Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
H&NFTT's have always been as tight in most barrels. @ 5.53 there were always gonna be, but whats makes them tighter so to speak is the fact that they are hard structurally, where as if Exacts did a 5.53, they would fit better. 1 Quote Link to post
Zimpara 99
Absolutely right. They are not far off accupell for hardness. Off to gunshop now to find some 5.52s hopefully Edited November 24, 2015 by Zimpara Quote Link to post

jonnie bravo 572
Nice groups! That's what I would call a ragged one hole group? I'd stay on those pellets if it were me Buy a chrono too they are a good bit of kit. Same cost as 5 tins of pellets Quote Link to post
Zimpara 99
Thanks jonnie, I think a range finder would be a better piece of kit to get before a chrono? What chrono? The over muzzle kind? Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
I think the range finder would be a great help if you are wanting to get better at the real long range stuff. I've had one and although it helped (I was using it with an S200 in .22) it also slowed me down and made shooting much less fun The combro one is great just secure it with some big elastic bands, it will tell you fps and ft/lbs, about £55. David.evans 5,323
Cheap and nasty lads , don't waste your money on one of those , and not very accurate at all , better to take your gun to your rfd , and ask them to chrono it for you, or ask if any or the lads live near that would do it That's just my opinion of them ! David.evans 5,323
Yes I agree but is it accurate? That's the most important question Atb Quote Link to post
