MickyB 327
Been hunting the local Rabbits as long as I can remember, cant recall ever seeing it here, until the bitch retrieved one last night with swelling on its eyes, gutted to say the least its my best local bit, my question in your experience is how fast does it spread and should I not let it rest and hit the same spot every night and get as many mixy ones as I can or would that be a futile attempt to stop the inevitable? skycat 6,173
We get myxi here every year. This year it seems quite a mild strain and it hasn't wiped the rabbits out, there's still plenty left. Those that the dogs caught seemed to be getting over it without having gone to skin and bone as they do sometimes. It varies a lot in intensity and symptoms, or do some survivors just build up better immunity? Quote Link to post
Somewhereyournot 1,117
On some ground Iv seen one rabbit with lumps all over it, eyes crusty n look at bursting point, pretty much dead, BUT that same ground still has loads on it. Lots of healthy rabbits too. Strange really, because on another permission I had few years back we saw one with milder symptoms and within 3 weeks we went back and literally didn't see one rabbit, where in the night before mixi you could easily see 200 odd. Its a shame , the rabbit population has never been that big round here and everytime it looks to be getting better it goes bad again . The land i have over harwood had a fair few a couple of years back but in the space of 2 weeks you were lucky to see one Quote Link to post
