philpot 5,005
Just thinking about the possibility of having a .25 FAC and would like to know from you boys with FAC air rifles just how tricky is it to get a ticket. I have a cabinet that my shotguns are in although not sure if that is the same spec for FAC. Your thoughts please Phil Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
Piece of piss when it comes to air rifles man. It's actually a joke when it comes to proper rifles to be honest. A friend of mine has a few 308's and old plod hasn't even been round to check how there stored yet, 2 years in. Air rifle on a ticket are a walk int the park, question is, do you really need an extra 20 yards? What you thinking of getting anyway? 1 Quote Link to post
philpot 5,005
To be honest Rez, I am hoping to get a perm with a quarry on the land which is now grassed over and has a large rabbit population and I thought it could be quite handy for that but as much as anything if I got a Brocock Compatto or a Wildcat, both can turn down the power so it could be a cracking ratter. I do want a .22 or .25 for ratting and thought this might cover both areas of interest and I guess it would be nice to simply have it available to me. I am going to have another gun so an FAC will give me that option. Phil Edited November 21, 2015 by philpot Quote Link to post
Del1810 5
Phil as long as you have a valid reason for a FAC you can obtain one. Usually it's good to invite the FEO to your permission and show him the quarry you'll be shooting. Show him your security measure for shot gun and the cabinet should be in accordance with the home office BS standard for securing firearms Personally I'd apply for a rim fire for rabbits and also an FAC air rifle for indoor work in barns buildings etc where a sub 12 may not work and the rim fire to powerful. You'll also need two referees of good standing to vouch for you. It will stand you in good stead having a SGC. Should be a walk in the park. Last thought on question 14 put down vermin control and it won't be to bad if you show them your map of your permission with back drops and no fire areas this will show your safety aspects mate. The one 8,483
Handy tool when a rim fires to powerful for the job Quote Link to post
philpot 5,005
Thanks chaps, I don't want a rim fire to be honest, it is something that no longer interests me but a .22 or .25 FAC air rifle certainly interests me. Phil Quote Link to post
