A Strange Turn?

Recommended Posts

I've a young dog, 15 months, just starting her first proper season. All is going well, catching from an early age and continuing to add to her repertoire. I seen a few odd habits in dogs over the years, but this one is a first. When a rabbit is pressured enough to turn sharp away from cover etc, rather than the dog bend with the rabbit, mid stride, she flings her back end around and lands backwards on her haunches and sets off again. At first I thought it just puppy behaviour, but I've seen her do it enough times to know that she does it for good reason. I'm not complaining because it works for her. Just that I have never seen it before.

Anybody else seen anything similar?

If she is successful at catching using that method then alls well and good Trench, obviously with just bunnies & rats on the menu it ain't so much an issue but do you reckon she would of done it on other types of quarry back in the day and how would she of fared in your opinion?

I imagine that she would do the same successfully if owld puss clamped down and spun off mid run. But been just a little cur, that would never happen

Ive a two year old saluki dog here that has the most unusual range of movement I've seen in a running dog, it's almost in part as you describe lrenchfoot? He can leave the floor at high speed n land facing any way he chooses even at very high speeds it's very much like puppy play but over time it's become natural too him too move like that and it's very fluid even at high speeds he does it daily chasing and being chased by the other dogs and also when he works quarry

It's hard to explain it really I try film um on phone today doin it
