Maximus Ferret 2,063
As said above, cats have no trouble killing rabbits, including the one I have now. I think that almost any cat can learn it as long as there're a few rabbits about. I've known a small female cat to regularly kill rabbits that were almost as big as itself to feed kittens and when I worked in a petfarm next to Clonakilty agricultural college, the yard cats from the college used to grab quite big pet rabbits and run up 8 feet of chainlink fence with screeching rabbit in mouth. Cats are great hunters if they get a chance and my own neutered tom regularly leaves a full sized rat, sometimes 2, on the doorstep in the morning. I think he's carrying them a fair distance too, from nearby agricultural land so must sometimes make two journeys. A lot on here don't like cats but personally I like to have one around the place. jukel123 8,653
I sense I'm in for a hard time for this claim but I had a Siamese cat that regularly killed adult hares. I used to live on a sporting estate with a huge hare population and she regularly dragged them home between her legs like a leopard carries its prey. And no my nose is not getting longer as i write this. Of course she preferred leverets but she had several fully grown ones over the years. In fact she regularly provided supplementary feeding for my dogs and ferrets. Edited November 20, 2015 by jukel123 1 Quote Link to post

Phil Lloyd 10,738
So refreshing to hear folk extolling the hunting attributes of the humble Cat... I have always rated them as being class acts, when it comes to having endless patience, superb agility and a skillful strike. We used to have great fun with the farm cats ,..mostly lamping rodents and they definitely carried rabbits around the place,..often secreteing the carcases in the straw barns for consumption at a later date... These beautiful and ancient feline hunters, sure are good,.. at what they do.. I've heard of 'Hunt jump kill and carry'. But never 'hunt jump with cat and carry'.
