Rolling Back The Years...

Was just outside cleaning a few bunnies and was just reminiscing as you do lol..I've put some gear to bed with these old lamps I have,more so the one to the right the Super Cibie Oscar,was always my favourite..nowt could touch them back in the day..the other is a Coleman 750,000cp another very good lamp back in the day and was one of the 1st of the "lightweight" types I ever used..come on then guys/gals what lamps have you still got lying around your shed/garage?

Aye but that was back in the day Fuji, nowadays if you aint got a blitz and a 22amp lithium your not a proper lamper......

I wish I still had the array of lamps I've used. It would make a great photo.

 

Starting off with the Lucas beams that were pretty weak and yellow and those square 'lamps' from the local 'Charlie Browns' car centres for £4.99....

 

The early american ones that were called either Speaker or Squeaker, I can't quite remember.....then there's the old Blue-eye, IMO the most over-rated lamp in the history of hunting! 110,000 and we thought we'd be able to lamp on the moon! :laugh:All good fun when you're young.

 

Fuji, are you sure those rabbit's haven't come straight out of your freezer...I'm sure those are the same ones you keep photographing over and over again....

Still have two Blue Eyes here working and must be over 20 years old. At the time they were the RollsRoyce of lamps, LOL.

Them Yank ones were called "Squeaker" JD ..I could never afford one of them haha..I also had the BIG Hella lamps off the rally cars,fcuk they were heavy,no doubt it will still be in the shed too haha,I seen another Cibie Super Oscar out there,plus the little 400,000cp Coleman,that was a superb little rabbit lamp that was..let's not go into the batteries we used and the clothes we "rotted" away lmao

My ex wife got me one for Xmas,I bombed the cnut on my 1st night with it,smashed it over a gatepost lol,as much good as a glass eye lol

I knew a lad who used one 20 year ago, dont know if he'd modified it or what, but it was a canny lamp, I was using a 1.5 mill prolight at the time and dont think i've seen anything yet to match the reach of the beam on that lamp

Mentioning the old motor batteries that burned holes in your cloths reminded me of the night a lad showed up with a car battery fixed to a square piece of plywood that he wore on his back like an old schoolbag. It stuck out for over a foot on his back.

We got chased that night and getting under a gate the battery caused him to get stuck, LOL. He nearly got caught, I nearly pissed myself.

 

Then there was another mate who used to lamp from the road in his van. A car came over the hill in front of him one night and he quickly put the lamp down on the seat beside him.

It went on fire and wrecked the seat.

He done it again a few weeks later.

Ditto, melted a Tog 24 shirt in a rucksack once.

First "proper" lamp was a Cluson, battery inside an orange metal case with a lamp on a bracket at the front. Big flip switch on the lamp housing.

Exchange and Mart about £30 I think?. Many moons ago.
