The game shouldnt of been played simple as that......there was a horrible atmosphere in and out of the ground,we all like to have a laugh and a giggle at the footie but you was almost looking around for forgiveness every time you laughed......and seeing armed police outside the ground was like being back at Italia 90 !

I think if they decided to play the game as a gesture of defiance or solidarity or whatever , then they should let the fans be as partisan and the players be as competitive as usual without hamstringing them with the "footballs not important " message .We have always known footballs not important in the scheme of things but if the purpose of playing the match was to carry on as normal then there is no point guilt tripping fans and players into not acting normal.

It reminded me of the 1989 cup final after Hillsbourgh ,I was in the Everton end ,and after the minutes silence and all the rest of it ,it was zs though no one knew what to do ,it was eerie for a couple of seconds ,then one of those loud bellowing voices boomed "right lets get into this red shite "you could almost sense the relief and then it was business as usual from the blue nose twats. It doesnt mean you have less respect or sympathy its sport the way sport should be .

yeah ive been thinking along similar lines, I reckon managers and players of yesteryear would of paid lip service to the stuff going on outside but behind closed doors it would have been different I.e lets get stuck into the cheese eating surrender monkeys and give them a good thumping while they minds are elsewere, bet they was talk of not hammering them or playing a draw out or similar with todays wishy washy footballers though. I think the former is more respectful myself and would have been carrying on as normal in a truer sense.

I just think anything less than 100% commitment isnt sport its making a statement.....which is all last night really was,a statement................but these are the times we live in.......i wish i hadnt gone to be honest.... ive not often felt cheated as a spectator but i did last night.
