Huw1988 9
Been looking at the forums for a while but not seen anything about storing and transporting guns to and from permissions or shops? i know with a FAC you need a gun safe/or secure storage with separate secure storage for ammunition but what about the common 177/22 under 12flbs im still yet to buy my gun but was wondering about trigger locks and where to store my rifle at home with the ammo or separate is a gunslip and trigger lock ok or is more required i believe when transporting you shouldn't have the ammo in the same area as the gun (needs to be different pocket) and always unloaded. also what about the dive bottle does this need special treatment do you need a sticker on your car if you take the bottle onto your permission? Just a wandering mindful of questions Cheers Huw Quote Link to post

VWman 232
Most of it is just common sense. Keep your rifles locked in a warm room where your wife can't see them. Don't get on the buss with your diver bottle, not sure if it's against the law but it's not very cool. Transport your rifle in a gun slip but not loaded as you may shoot yourself in the bum. Never get your rifle out in a public place or people may think you are going to shoot them........It's all common sense really LOL The main thing is save loads of money and get a weihrauch. Good luck. 1 Quote Link to post

treecreeper 1,136
Karbine is a shorter gun, shorter barrel, air tube and forestock. K is carbine s (sporter) or t (thumbhole) denotes stock then theres the fsb (full shrouded barrel) is louder than the rest. Edited November 17, 2015 by treecreeper Quote Link to post

I have a 100fsb sporter and I think it looks cool as but..... A little bit of info for you. .22 long will give you the most shots per fill Get the stock that you like and if you can be selective with the walnut they all look different. carbide/ short are very pointable but some like the long/standard. .177 fly fast and flat very accurate .22 will still hit the mark and fly a bit slower but the pellet is a bit heavier although you can get heavy 177's. The fsb model will not be as silent as the moderated 100's Hope this helps. 1 Quote Link to post

walshie 2,804
You don't actually need to lock your airgun away at home unless someone under 18 is likely to be able to access it. Mine is sitting by the back door and the FEO didn't say a word. Quote Link to post

mark williams 7,550
I renewed my shot gun certificate recently and had the firearms officer checking all was well. While the officer was doing the inspections i asked about my air weapons (all sub 12 ft/lbs) and he said as all my kids are over 18 yrs old there is no problem being under house security. If however your children are under 18 yrs of age they want all weapons in a secure gun cabinet. I did`nt mention grand children though so i`m sure one of the lads will be along soon to answer that one, personally i would get the extra cabinet. atb Quote Link to post
Del1810 5
Gun safes are always good even if it is to store a sub 12. I bought one off eBay and it claimed to hold 3 scoped rifles. It didn't as PCP's tend to be bigger in depth than normal rifles. You can get some cracking deals on eBay but make sure your rifle will fit in it. If your going for an FAC then just get a 6 gun cabinet and have them all locked away. They usually come with an internal safe. Make sure they are police approved and in line with the home office approved security rating I think it's bs7994 or something. If you've got all weapons locked away when the FEO comes round then you'll pass with flying colours. There's no legal requirement to keep a sub 12 locked away but as you say it's good practice and the police can pop round unannounced and check that your complying with requirement. Rule of thumb when transporting is in a gun slip unloaded and ideally in your boot this will add to "not to hand" if you encounter any problems. Last thing you want is an over zealous officer wanting to see it and mention to an FEO that he tugged you and it was on your back seat. Sloppy drills on security will garauntee regular checks on security at home. Quote Link to post
