terryd 8,401
The beam on the 500 is a bit tight i do notice that if i have to run to keep the dog in the beam. But I avoid that by getting in the right position in the first place if i can. I did a rough field the other night and used my other lamp to give a bit more spread so the dog would hopefully see the obstacles better. But he still managed to nearly knock him self out and I gave my self a reminder not to be so stupid in future. A poxy rabbit is not worth it Quote Link to post

If you hold the lamp low(shoulder height or lower. there more chance dog being effected. I always thought thats why the lamp is held high and kind of shinned down to quarry to control where the light hits and the glare. To daze quarry and not the dog ??????????? 2 Quote Link to post

longdog85 29
As always the thl experts are missing my point what I'm trying to say is a lot of the new type led type torches and lamps with there pencil thin beam are not great for running dogs on for many reasons but the most important is how dogs react to that type of light. And thank you all for pointing out not to lamp the dog in the eyes which is obviously were I've been going wrong! Quote Link to post

J Darcy 5,871
I've done a fair bit with the PLR this season and I have not found a single negative thing to say. It's £45 plus postage, but shop around. Done two nights back to back, lamping for 2-3hr both nights and still holding charge. I sometimes think, Imagine if the PLR was available twenty years ago.....we'd never use anything else... i'm thinking about getting another one so I've got two of them for when I go further afield......they're the best lamp I've ever used......... 2 Quote Link to post
