I bought a cane/bamboo rod this year (the orientI I think its called) and took it fishing. bloody hell i couldn't cast with it and was scared of snapping it. (im useless with a modern rod too) but it was a nice feeling trying.

I have a nice 4 weight rod built by a bloke in Bradford 20 years ago, takes a bit of getting used to and it's a real slow action. I haven't fished it for a few years but I snapped the tip on my Hardy marksman this years so dusted it off. Like an old friend it creaked into action and caught me some nice trout this year....
