Ideation 8,216
The simple fact is if you were trying to cover 1000/2000 acres or more on foot looking for particular quarry. . . . . . you'd be a long time walking! 1 Quote Link to post
Omanyra 2,518
Its all about numbers with you lot isnt it??? Just walk the land, become as one with Mother Natures sleepers as you tread sombre wet soil, and if you get a rabbit or two on your nocturnal journey, thats an added bonus 12 Quote Link to post
Teckers 649
That's exactly what it's about for me aswel pal, not being in a car with the feking heaters on , I can understand if it's your job or your old and your knees are gone lol but I enjoy walking with the wind blowing at my face and pitting my whits against my chosen quarry 2 Quote Link to post
fifeman 164
What about the lads that travel many many miles to run dogs from the motor. Not actually drivin over the land but slipin from motor/roadside to cover more ground for certain quarry species preban and respecting how they do it. Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
Totally different on different ground. Done some rabbit lamping from a truck, dogs got more runs, worked harder than they would on foot. Quote Link to post
buster gonads 862
Nay from me, Fieldcraft every time. turned up at a field last week to find tyre tracks all over the field and 3 dead Hares dumped at the gate, a pox on those responsible, scum of the earth imo. 5 Quote Link to post

*The*Field*Marshall* 674
I don't know about driving, but I have swept down onto my local football pitch from an embankment on my trek bike, lamped whilst still moving at pace and the dog caught, cycled pack up with the dog in tow with one in the mouth . . I felt like a hero ha ha 2 Quote Link to post
jake824 517
I ve lamped from a motor with different keepers on big estates and did nt like it much. Fair enough it was pest control and the keepers wanted the numbers but I had just as many good nights when I walked the same ground. The old dog will find things in the dark which you d miss in the truck . Quote Link to post
Qbgrey 4,078
I do have fun on the quad I must admit. Quote Link to post
Somewhereyournot 1,117
Personally I don't understand exactly how lamping from a motor driving land is done, the way I think it would be done would be loud , and f***ing annoying. But I suppose the ones that need to "test" the dogs to jacking point it's good for them. Leave them at it, just a lazy way of lamping. Iv gate lamped and that's not bad but it's not driving fields like a disrespectful c**t Quote Link to post

I used to knock it but I don't anymore, will wait until I've tried it. Quote Link to post
