Bisley Magnums

Recommended Posts

Ive tried a few different pellets in my hw100 .177 and the bisley mags are the best ones for this gun, i know they are a decent pellet but when i have been reading the airgun posts whether its hunting or any other they dont seem to be used by many people on here, so ide just like to know who uses them and what gun you use them in. Cheers for any replys

I am yet to try anything else in my 100 .177 yet been using up the accupels i got here , and they are performing well tbh .. most seem to be using the AA fields , so i will probably try them but in

Never found them to work that well in any gun i have had , all ways low on power They are about the same weight as the JSB heavies but these give a lot more ft/lb than bis mags

Not yet mate i just tried the ones i have jsb exact 8.4, rws superfiel, defiant, bisley pest control, flat head rws and another forgot the name. Did them all at 36 yard mesured out and as i said the

j j m uses um, I think in his 7.

I dont know why I havent considered them, the weight perhaps. But thats not a real reason. I think my only known reserve is that the Magnums are of the 'old skool' and maybe arent engineered as they are nowdays, like Exacts or Fields for example, but I dont thats the case, so I dont really know. In 177 like you are using them, they work well, the knock down power of the .20 but the early flight path of a lighter pellet.

I may have a look when the next tin is needed. My own 100 really likes the softer pellets and Fields 4.52 are soft [as we all know] and a sure fit in the breech of the barrel and with them performing well, I see no realy need of change... yet.

They're a good pellet for magnum springers. I have used the 21-grain .22 Bisley Magnums extensively in my FAC HW85, which spits them out at 16.25 fpe. They can deliver 12mm groups (.5 inch) at 33 yards, if I do my bit. They are just edged in terms of accuracy by the JSB Jumbo Monsters, which are even heavier at 25.34 grains.

My 13 fpe HW97 doesn't like the .177 Magnums as much though, it prefers JSB Exact Heavies, delivering 9mm groups at 33 yards. Prior to installing a V-Mach kit in the 97, it was wickedly accurate with Weihrauch F&T Specials (4.51) and AA DFs in 4.50, but I've had to move to a heavier pellet with the V-Mach -- as power output goes up, I've found that a heavier pellet is more stable in flight. If I beefed up my 97 to 15 fpe, I guess I'd be using the Bisleys in that rifle too.

Bisley Magnums may be old school, but they seem well made, arrive undamaged and clean with not too much dust in the tin, and I read somewhere that they're factory-lubed.

David I would like to take you up on that please, I am quite curious because most reports say they are not good but as the saying goes, ' you don't know until you try'. I am going to do some pellet tests so these will fit in with those tests.

I have also heard a couple of reports about BSA Interceptors (hollow point) being amazing for ratting and although they were in .22 produced good groups up to 35yds, no feed back on .177 though.
