leegreen 2,221
I have no preference of breed or size a good dogs only as good as it's owner and the amount of commitment he or she has . Simple really. Not really, you can't polish a turd. Although a good dog man might be able to put a bit of a sheen on it Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
One dog to do all the graft? I'll take whichever one doesn't get injured! Quote Link to post
Silversnake 1,099
I prefer to have two lurchers just to keep each other company while I am at work and I love watching two speedy hounds zipping around. I do think a bushing dog is not a bad thing to add to the mix or even two if you can provide enough work. If I had to choose one lurcher and I could choose the mix I would like saluki grey with a bit of kelpie and a bit of bull. Quote Link to post

bird 10,004
I'm the same as Doubleya, in that although i have two lurchers (well, one an a half!) I only want to keep and work one. (My other is a bit old an broke!) I've never understood the need to keep many lurchers (or dogs for that matter!) But unfortunatly lots of folk are collectors and constantly want the next best thing. Foolisly thinking that you need a 'specialist' for different types of graft. Truth is that the poor dogs hardly get the graft, or attention, they deserve and one dog, if brought on right can do almost anything... The best thing about owning two lurchers is that they are company for each other... spot on that' they deff company for each other , but unless you got a old one and young one , you will favor one dog more than the other for work if the simlar age. ive been quite lucky in one way Bryn 8 year old, not old but pst his best, Buck 3 year old so at top mof his game now, so only work Buck now, give bryn the odd night out, but when Buck older say the same age as bryn now, i wont be getting no more lurchers, buck will be my last. might get a staff or simlar just as pet when i reach that point. regards what x well on paper a pitxgrey xsalukix grey i reckon would be spot on for big and small quarry, if i was going to start all over again prob go for that x.! neems 2,406
I wouldn't be too fussed on the breeds or size,I like to watch a fast dog run even if he's just chasing a tennis ball, and preferably fairly durable and biddable. If it can catch anything that's a bonus lol I had a bull/whippet about 6 years ago that was ok on rabbits, the most agile dog I've ever seen, but him being too slow for some runs was very frustrating, older and wiser now but i don't know if that would still annoy me. I only us them where I can't run my dogs. Always thought guns were for fat people, who can't be arsed to walk far 3 Quote Link to post
