swg dave 334
Old characters like Mick the fen man, a couple of old mates of mine Dougie Cooper of CTF fieldsports supplies and not forgetting old Jed Edge. A proper talented old boy, stick carver net maker, great fisherman and a very clever old poacher, who claims to have long netted a wallaby on a big estate in leistershire Lol and i have no doubt, that Jed really was a man of his word, he said the net was boucing 10 foot high, Fecking funny man. I think Phil LLoyd might know old Jed as Jed was always at Dougie Coopers Hunting shop in Sutton in surrey. RIP Jed You were a great man X... 2 Quote Link to post

runem 533
Deaf Paul, what a character,,,kept foxes in spare bedroom, soil on the floor wardrobe tipped over they lived in it,on chewed a hole in the floorboards then front room ceiling, asked me if i could help catch it in the bedroom, you,ve seen nothing like it angry fox running around biting everything in sight, lad never batted an eye. Whilst out lamping and he did,nt have any permission at all,he found a dead body at the side of a wood,he told the police,he got asked all sorts of questions,,,,well it must have put him of because about three years later he found another, this time someone else reported it. He used to eat what he caught ,and regularly ate peacocks at least 1/2 week i wondered where he was getting them from,,he used to let his collie greyhound(a fantastic dog)through a heavy fenced area at night and wait for it to come back after some time it returned,,when i went with him to his secret favourite lamping area it was right next to Chester Zoo, 10 Quote Link to post

pro keeper 111
Dick edmands He told me and my dad he saw a pheasants head pop up over the bottom rail of a wooden 5 bar gate 30 yards away and shot at it with his old air rifle, every time he shot the birds head reapeared after 9 shots it stopped, so he went down to look and 9 birds lay there dead, when he asked my dad to sight in the gun it shot 2ft left lol He loved his lurchers and took my dad out plenty of times only to catch 1 rabbit ever that rabbit so my dad says ran into a feeder and knocked it's self out. My father was convinced that lurchers were no good at lamping until I took him out with me years later. 1 Quote Link to post
