A Positive Story About Guns/gun Ownership

Recommended Posts

We'd only end up like Somalia if we were overwhelmingly inhabited by Somalians.

With sensible gun ownership hopefully there'd be a lot more cases like this and if anything fewer of them on (above) British soil.

Even if the laws regarding hand guns went back to how they were wilf, I very much doubt those women would be seeking permits, doing the training etc & arming themselves........we don't do it in th

Why would it turn into Somalia? Why always use the worst examples of countries that have the freedom to use arms for defence? What about Canada, France, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Czech.Rep etc?

" sensible gun ownership " i like it................we,re all sensible until we go on a kill crazy rampage

I could do that with a knife/machete/sword or more easily my car,in my car I could even claim it was an accident and no-one could prove otherwise.

I don't mean they should be given out to just anyone, proper testing etc

Yes but the Swiss have one of the lowest crime rates worldwide full stop regardless of gun crime.

Ok forget the police and government we,ll all take responsibility for ourselves and probably end up like Somalia who have a non existent police force and no stable government...... but its ok because the people take responsibility for themself.

Ironic as well how the Swiss have such low crime rates when a good percentage of the criminal economy ends up in Switzerland :whistling:

The UK has some of the most restrictive laws on firearms and defence in the world and it's done nothing significant for our safety. Taking back responsibility for your life, taking back fundamental liberties isn't about throwing away the police force and the government, it's about resetting the constitution and what these institutions should actually be about. Some of us are uncomfortable with increasingly giving away our responsibilities and freedoms....

Ok replace a home owners gun with a knife and see how many burglars just walk straight out the back door.........getting up close and personal is a lot more messy than shooting someone from 30 feet.....but you still get the same result.

Because you used the best ( Switzerland )

I dont know what you was like as a youngster but if id had the right to carry a gun then one way or another id never of made it to adulthood !.....ok it would still take careful screening or whatever but again we are all sensible until we lose our head.......id rather someone lost their head with a knife than a gun as they are far less likely to use a knife.

How happy would you feel about the police doing a few gun seminars on inner city estates etc and saying " now make sure you act responsibly " ?

oul farmer here caught a traveller searching round his gaff blasted him twice in the back, then bate him like a badger with a lump of wood he pleaded  he done a couple of yrs and was released after a petition signed by thousands, all home owners should have the option of at least a shotgun, bet the break ins would drop dramaticly.

For a 'crazy' it probably doesn't make that much difference, mass stabbings have happened in places guns are almost illegal.

I could just pick up a bit of speed driving towards whatever target I chose and close my eyes, claim I blacked out and probably do less than 4 years if i got sent down at all.

But if psychological as well as weapon proficiency tests were done before a license for a fire arm was issued,i reckon that would be more than reasonable, would also be a source of revenue for the government.

Or the burglars would just start arming themselves, like in America.

Gnash are you saying that if people own a gun then lost their temper they would run around killing people ........

That's exactly what I do every time I lose my temper when I'm in my car,or if I see someone on the street I don't like while I'm driving.

just plow'em down.

Okay, fair enough, I just wanted to establish a balanced view.

I wouldn't like to speculate on your youth so I can't really respond to that but I'll say this; growing up in a society where people can't defend themselves with a firearm will foster a different attitude to social behaviour than it would growing up in one where firearms are a well known part of it culturally.

I don't believe you can just take a culturally anti gun society like the UK and just throw 20 million firearms into the mix with the only precaution being everybody has to watch the seminar "Responsible Gun Use 101". LOL. I haven't really speculated here on how reinstating the right to bear arms in the UK could be achieved, simply that I support it.

If it was seriously brought to the table then I would want to see licensing involving competency tests including practical examinations by either a government institution or an independent private institution that conforms to some sort of regulations determined by parliament. But it'll never happen because the British do not value that right, it's no longer a part of our culture.
