WILF 46,984
Socks will know this, and I am sure he will tell you about the rule book British soldiers had to adhere too when on active service in Northern Ireland. They really did have one hand tied behind their back.
Francie 6,368
I see your point socks, but there were not being shot at, its all there in the inquiry, it was a civil rights march. An the soldiers charged the crowd an opened fire, the soldiers hated the Catholics, they knew what they were at, it was the paratroopers, not just any old soldier. I am sorry Francie but I have to pull you up on that, in Britain we don't even consider the religion of other white people be they English, Irish, Scottish or Welsh.......we just don't. I would bet a decent few quid that the fact they were catholic never even crossed those young lads minds. It's only in Northern Ireland that anyone takes a blind bit of notice, it's certainly the only place I have ever experienced it. My wifes granny used to introduce me to folk and add "he's catholic but he is very nice" lol lol.......and she was being serious ! Lol I can't speak for the republic because every f****r is a catholic but I have certainly not had any anti English experience. But as I say, in Britain we don't even consider another British or Irish lads religion. Well wilf as I said to socks, in two mins from the bogside, come up a night lamping , or for a day out, an see the place for yourself, The ruc colluded with loyalist paramilitaries throughout the struggle, to kill Catholics,

mackay 3,377
Why would anyone consider a career in the military now is beyond me. Fcuked over by the establishment at every opportunity to appease terrorists and there sympathetic covert supporters.

I have no doubt there was collusion and it just so happened that the paramilitarys and their sympathisers on the other side were catholic. Being a catholic alone would not even figure in someone from the mainlands mind, that I can promise you mate.
