Never heard of a whippet capable of 50 a night and if it was the norm whippets and big numbers why would people bother with lurchers......reckon i must live a sheltered life....but as ive said dog must be a good un well done

I certainly wouldn't get one running the kind of land you run matey! They seem ideally suited for small fields, rough ground, in and around cover etc etc.

Is she pure whippet trev, and is she from a line bred by yourself or someone you know for work or was she a good buy? Do you have any plans to breed?

Im hoping to get a rabbit dog in a few years and I was thinking whippet or whippet cross for the smaller size. The perms I have are only small, paddocks and cricket pitch etc, dog would mainly be ferretin and moochin not running big numbers. plus chances are Id only be out once a week.

Had a whippet dog a few years back, got him when he was 3 1/2 so he already had a few bad habits, one being I could not for the life of me break him to sheep, but jesus could he jump, five bar gates with good clearance and had to roof his kennel in as he would get his front paws over the top and pull himself up..... anyway never took many rabbits with him, simply because there wasn't the number where I lived, but at the time we had a few racing greyhounds, I used to let the whippet out with them one by one and he'd run the ragged, 15-20 30 second plus runs every day and he still looked like he had more in the tank, would loved to of had him from a pup in good rabbit country
