Most Consecutive Catches Of Rabbits On The Lamp

Recommended Posts

No Mrs Darcy,,,,ive found most dog lads are like fishermen,,

It was a 300 yard slip on the lamp,,,yeh ok,,

It was a 5 min run,,,,2 mins

That fallow buck must of weighed 500 pounds....

Out lamping those big scores its easy to forget the odd miss,,,, and at the end of the night,,, you think to yourself ,, you know she only missed 2; 3;;4 etc,,,, but in reality 10 or a dozen have been missed

Unless you write stuff down beats me how some guys remember days out with such fine detail.

Some things just stick out in your mind..

After a good night's lamping, I struggle to sleep..

I'm still buzzing, could be the red bull mind lol

I've got video reply in my head..

Things that stuck in my mind first catches day and night, biggest catches, times when someone else came along and times when disaster struck.

Most folks (I used too, but don't now) take a picture of everything caught.

That's bound to help the old grey matter lol..

its something ive never really bothered to take much notice of to be honest. but i can remember one night with my old dog we had a brief change in weather whilst lamping and he done 9 out of 10 in 2 fields.

only reason i can remember that is i had just dropped a load of rabbits off at a spot to pick up once i had finished then by the time i hit the road 2 fields later i had another 9 bunnys on my carry strap.

i can remember being chuffed with both myself and the dog

Dont bloody lie jon you love a good count!

You wont go home unless uve hit the mile stone of 20 or 30 ?

Im just jealous i dont need to count i just use fingers on one hand.

Back in the 1980s, I used to walk out every night,...it was not advisable to freelance during the daytime,..suicidal in fact.. :whistling:

Killed lots of rabbits and other stuff,...

We used whatever crossbred thing that was on offer,..but, I was impressed with a certain young bitch that I owned..

She had tremendous prey drive and the minerals, stamina and physicality to match,...

We never realy got on,...but fair play to her,...one night she managed 27 consecutive catches ,.before we had to leave the Golf Course..

The rabbits were awkward to catch,...quick , nimble and not eager to die,..but they did..

Five the other night.. Its now Kelts second season, first time out on the lamp this season because of a ripped stopper.. Last season she was picking up ones and twos, fields werent that busy and a combination of me and her learning played a part.

The other night was the best night ive had out yet, no massive numbers, was chuffed to see her running better and striking better than last season.. Her turning isnt quite as good as glens, but there was also an improvement there..

Shes still a stuborn f****r, still needs work, one thing i cant fault is her prey drive
