swg dave 334
Had a wander out last night, with my mate lamping only running his bitch as my younger dog is recovering from a knocked toe, any way his bitch had 8 runs catching all 8 rabbits. Im not on about catching massive bags just interested in the most consecutive catches on the bounce before the dog missed. His bitch never put a foot wrong and run well. We could of carried on and caught more rabbits, but he was happy with the eight and on our return back to the motor we was walking past rabbits that he could have quite easily slipped the bitch on, but their is always another night hopefully with my old dog as well,, then we will have a bit of a longer night out together. It was good just to be out in the pitch black with a fair wind hitting you in the face watching and enjoying the magic of the sport that i love, and the most enjoyable pleasure that i get from lamping .. I Love It.. 5 Quote Link to post

Gaz_1989 9,539
I reckon my old red bitch did 16-18 consecutive when I took her up the dales. If my memory serves right we got 37 rabbits from 40 runs. But that's up the dales. Lol. You would be doing well to get 3-4 on the bounce around here and I think if you get 6 rabbits from 10 runs you are doing pretty well. But then I'm not shy with slipping. Some lads will only slip on squatters or rabbits they are certain the dog will catch. 2 Quote Link to post

I'm not shy on slipping either, hardly ever get squatters or hoppers, soon as lamps on running for safety lol.Was impressed with my young dog the other night rabbit hopped up to the hedge, I wasn't going to slip but I ended up doing it, he run from my left side, to the right, just out of the beam by about a foot and made the catch, was great to see, shows he's shaping up quite well. 2 Quote Link to post
CraignTod 278
Speaking of conservative, went out last night with the bitch who is in season, 1 run 1 rabbit, come home only out for bout 25 mins 1 Quote Link to post
terryd 8,436
4 on the trot last night but he has had 6. If the rabbit don't get in the hedge quick he don't miss many. I like to quit while I am ahead most the time and the dogs in one piece. 3 Quote Link to post
J Darcy 5,871
I took my mates bitch out last night and she caught 5/5. That's good going for local rabbits as they're rockets. When I went to the Dales with me pup he caught 23 on the bounce.... 5 Quote Link to post
trigger2 3,145
its something ive never really bothered to take much notice of to be honest. but i can remember one night with my old dog we had a brief change in weather whilst lamping and he done 9 out of 10 in 2 fields. only reason i can remember that is i had just dropped a load of rabbits off at a spot to pick up once i had finished then by the time i hit the road 2 fields later i had another 9 bunnys on my carry strap. i can remember being chuffed with both myself and the dog Quote Link to post
Giro 2,648
I can't remember the exact figure.. My coursing bred bitch never missed a rabbit,on her first three lamping trips. Not big numbers. Something like 4,6,12 . It does fall back towards a numbers thing. The guys catching the big bags, won't miss many on a night out.. Quote Link to post

Hi, no she is, i believe, lurcher to lurcher. I keep forgetting to ask the exact breeding though! No buddy in her matey.... She is a great runner on the lamp and she don't miss many. In fact, she's one of those dogs that seems to catch rabbits in places she has no business to! She comes over here lamping one night a week, and has done for a couple of years, so I've seen her catch a fair bit of tackle...a good honest bitch. 1 Quote Link to post
