Hm

Recommended Posts

So. Yesterday I went to pick up my new HM from Tawnado airguns. Got there about 12.30'ish, didn't leave til 3. The service and knowledge of Michael Tawn was superb. Highly recommended. Nice pad, nice shop, mainly full of RAW's and some high end Gary Cane stuff. Pellets, and loads of Sportsmatch mounts.

The HM, being as I purchased it on a gut feeling was impressive to say the least. From the off, it felt rock solid. I know it should do for the cost, but the feeling was good. It wasn't heavy as I have also heard and researched, but that might be down to what Im used too. 97's etc. The stock fits like a glove and its smooth, real smooth in fact. I know walnut is smooth, however, the quality of the components is bang on the money. I suppose in a way its American. Chunky, with proper clicks and locking sounds of the moving parts. Ive not shot it properly yet at range, but will do a review or something in the near future, as from personal experience, I know theres not that much on them on the 'tube in the UK.

I opted for .20 cal, and on the crono is disgustingly consistant. I actually think my crono is broken, and the rifle is outputting 11.5-6 with H&N's. Anyway. Action wise, its got the carbon fibre trim, mod and barrel and the back end is matt in finish. Buyers can basically spec anything they want so I hear. Ive gone for the left hand sporter stock with right handed action.

Ive dropped on a Hawke Airmax, AMX ret 2-7x32 and its my first Hawke of the new range, to be completely frank now, Hawke have pulled there fingers out with these new models. This little scope is a gem, if it didn't have the Hawke logo on its side id say it was in the Nikon stall. The quality of the clicks too on the turrets, much different. Some may already have the new models, Im just new to them.

Last thing. The dovetail rail on the HM. Now, "most" grooves, such as the HW100 for example, you have a space between the mount inner and the action. With this rifle, the mounts sit bang on top of the action. Again, that might be the norm, but it can only add to the scope/rifle set up.

The rifle ships with one magazine, tank connection and the usual paperwork of course. Its perhaps the most expensive rifle ive ever bought, but had some savings, sold a few things and so on so I thought why not. The only downside is the waiting, you almost forget about the purchase [which on a positive note gives you time to sort the funds out]. Its a case of one being built at a time and shipped over.

More to follow, but yeah, highly recommended so far.

Nice, that's what I imagine rapids would of ended up looking like if they were still made now, somehow simple but we'll thought out,you know? Get it out and give us some pics and what not, what made you chance a .20? Assuming you chose it on a whim kind of...

Why did I choose .20... I really like .22, for all its knock down power and sweetness in the springers, but really cant help but like the flat trajectory of the 177 in my 100. That's why. I was leaning towards 22 more though with it and at the last minute said .20 for the order.

Can't see it being anything but accurate whichever calibre, probably take a mag or two to get used to it? After that nothing but tiny groups and plenty of dead quarry, like to see how the three calibres differ...
