WhiteN 15
Sorry, I just assumed gassing course he meant the changes to phostoxin use? I did the theory training offered by killgerm couple months back and it only covered moles and rabbits, awaiting to do the practical. Quote Link to post

Rowan 308
it all depends on what course you mean . there are several about at the moment . early this year I did a city & guilds level 2 award in the safe use of aluminium phosphide ( phostoxin and talunex) for vertebrate pest control. That covers use against , rabbits , moles and rats. Quote Link to post
stormyboy 1,352
I think you'll find the short courses are for vertebrates, rats , rabbits and moles. Grain fumigation is a specialist area requiring individual module training, same as buildings, aircraft, boats etc. Each one is a separate module. Quote Link to post
DIDO.1 22,702
Two days!!??? I must of been doing it wrong if it takes two days to learn :-) Quote Link to post
unclepesta 101
fumigation is a big subject and modules and learning takes time, the course is probably vertibrate based not spi or stack fumigation, but if it is its a good deal at 250. the learing in fumigation is quit long study or it use to be..for me it was lol. spi for many is a learning curve in itself. i dont do fumigation anymore but its a big section with many checks and balances. i expect the course is a bit more indepth with the vertibrates and saftey, good for beginers and people going into it, learning is ongoing as with everything, safety is no1, it might be a pain for old boys who done it all but now need to pay out more if that becomes the cases. i think refreshers are good but not at 250 unless private tutor. i was gonna do a refresher near basingstoke at some farm and though it would be fun too, but i dont know if this changes things. all the best and merry christamas to all you bored b*****ds Quote Link to post
fluff 409
are there many of use still gas rabbits and moles or is it just a back up when traditional methods fail Quote Link to post
unclepesta 101
mole trapping, gassing moles is expensive and no guarantee, the soil type weather ect and all this plays part, not excluding second man requirement. so for moles trapping is the most effective safe and considerate form of control imo. 1 Quote Link to post
