Anyone Know Much About Bullmastiffs?

Recommended Posts

Ever meet a boerboel ray? Only as supposed to still be used for work. Thing is i am sure some breeders are breeding them just to be big. Being a fan of bulldogs i prefer a slimmer built dog i know its supposed to be a guard but some look to heavy to move. No doubt the breed will go to shit as more people own em and start having litters. Hopefully a few breeders have a passion and work with a line and keep the dog bred for a purpose. Have posted before a woman in america who breeds and whilst her dogs still look big and heavy they arent ott and in.great condition. I wonder though how much more impressive some of these huge ones would be if the owner stripped the weight abit. When the weathers better hoping to be able to sort out seeing a boerboel in the flesh just for a day out and as ive never seen one.

Hmm I wouldn't say straight bull mastiff myself, she's got the markings, but her head looks boxer like?!? That said, I'm not all that clued up on these breeds. Nice bitch nonetheless

The group of lads I train with try to put our dogs under different types of mental stress and pressure whilst doing protection work ie smoke bombs,chainsaws/leaf blowers revved in their faces, working

We've got a couple of venues that we use but my favourite is a disused nightclub in East London where our main decoy sometimes does night security to stop people getting in and squatting as this ha

She does spoil her dare until a couple of week ago when it broke she had a 2" gem encrusted pink collar on lol. She has had her for a while now the dog was a year old when she got her and i think shes 4 or 5 now.

Shes a laid back dog but is very weary of strangers coming to my mums house she always has to check them over before they come in. But thats sort of why my mum wanted a big dog as shes getting on a bit now and lives by herself so she worrys a bit. So if someone was to break into the house the dog might deter them.

yeh , funny thing i feel the same as you there far to heavy, if you look at some of them there like docked bullmastiff, ok they got other breeeds in them, but any dog over 140 lb get probs HD for a start not long lived , blout, etc them boerboels go up to feckin 200lb noway can they be healthy . if really wanted a big guard type dog i go for a (ban-dog) pit x bullmastiff or maybe a kangal there about the most healthy of all the big breeds to day, as yet they aint been got hold of by the KC asyet, but that prob wont be long either, once a dog becomes popular they feck them up .!

So they arent over sized struggle to move type dogs? Some in photos i feel look to heavy but like i say that could be the bulldog passion in me. I just think every dog looks better when fit. Apart from the woman in america ive not seen boerboels which are in shape. I dont like them with tails for some reason. Was a bullmasstif years n years ago that played with my american bulldog when he was a pup. Not seen a better example was in good shape and was told he lived to a decent old age.

Not really looked into bandogs over here tbh. Seen some nice dogs on american sites though. Years back at a few reid shows were big bandogs if you could call them that. Was probably a "bandog" what they used and regarded as a pit rather than a game bred proven dog, and a poor example mastiff. None of em caught my eye even if most seemed to be in silly over the top leather harnesses and a big chain lead lol.

I just think is there a need for a dog to be so heavy? Im sure a presa or am bulldog would be enough to stop someone. Then again maybe the boerboels would look better that american womans certainly look better imo and a much more able dog.

I knew an old boy with a bullmastiff called Zeus that lived to 15 and never had any issue with his joints, wasn't a small dog either made my bullmastiff x look small. He was from an old line of farm dogs and sadly was never bred, shame because his sort of blood is exactly what the breed needs.

I reckon there's still the odd good bm to be found, they definitely retain the the guardian temp better than most modern mastiff breeds its just finding a fit and healthy example

Gonna visit some kennels in the new year, want another dog thats able. The bulldogs made me a fussy b*****d though i aint buying a dog only to end up regretting being stuck with it. A big dog that can bark and bite an arm sleeve in the way another dog would chase a toy doesnt impress me lol. If not really impressed ill just get a decent bred staffy know it aint going to look after the house like the other breeds but least its a dog which can do everything.

Would you say weight alone will ensure a dog has hd? Being over weight will of course add strain to the joints. If a dogs naturally large but not carrying loads of extra weight theres a chance itll be ok if bred right? If size can tell you a dogs gonna suffer with HD its a c**t imo to be breeding such large dogs.

well most vets ive talked to over the years , said when a frame of a dog get to big you get HD and elbow probs, the prob is people wont keep the dog slightly under weight , meaning say average weight for a gsd was 80lb a 75lb would deff make a differnce so say a 120lb b/m so aim at 110 lb do you see what i mean how overtime the dogs would get lighter, and produce smaller frame. funny thing is like pits and bullmastiffs ,staffs, i reckon pit x to bullmastiff with long line of breeding you get a real gooddog you end up with healthy type bullmastiff. back in the 80s when i had bullmastiffs few owners even toyed with idea of out xing to a ridgeback to get more healthy type bullmastiff , ilove pits but there not natural guards well ours was'nt they lick you to death :D lol they looked the part but thats all lol

I wouldn't say being big guarantees they'll end up with HD, get a pup from health tested lines and raise it right and keep it fit keeping strain on their joints to a minimum til they're grown and you can have a dog that's over 100lb and lives to a good old age with no hip problems.

Yeah seems to me ray that people want the dogs carrying extra weight almost. Think its to brag about the size of the dogs when flogging pups or something. Looking forward to seeing a boerboel in the flesh. Some do look the part and im sure in different hands alot of the dogs i think look to heavy would maybe be ok.

I suppose the hips is alot of factors, overweight, bad breeding and like you mentioned bdg not over doing it when a pups young.

As a seeker of truths and in order to establish some veracity of facts ,  yesterday I carried out a what’s app football questionnaire.
In order to maintain impartiality , I’ve awaited until the final results are in.... and it makes for interesting reading .
The conditions were set for a level playing field .reams of questions were filtered through however I decided on three questions alone to maintain ease of answer via the polling method of what’s app.
      1. Who in your opinion are the top 6 English football clubs regardless of league or current table position?
      2. Who would you say are the biggest English league side outwith big 6 ?
      3. Who is the bigger club Newcastle or Sunderland?
Answer in your opinion , no right or wrong .
Each question was asked individually, as in only when they Had responded to the first was the second sent and so on
the demographic was chosen with the following constraints
      1. No fans of either Sunderland or Newcastle were chosen to be questioned.
      2. I selected 20 people in order to make it a fair pool of people and to make % mathematics easier.
      3. All 20 lads are guys i have played football with or discussed football with at length.
      4. No members of the hunting life .
      5. 10 born and raised south of Birmingham . Including 2 welsh lads. 10 born north of Birmingham . Including 2 Scottish lads.
      6. All agreed to have the conversations and their findings included in the survey .
So with no further delay , is anyone interested in reading the results ?
Any ideas on how I could have set conditions to a fairer test?

Went to look at a house last week in which me and the missus fell in love with, we offered the asking price straight away and exchanged phone numbers with the couple.

They made it clear that they had a couple more viewings of the house and wanted to honour them. Come Tuesday morning I rang the estate agents at the crack of birdshit to get an update, they told me they were waiting on hearing off the other people first.

Come 11 I got a call and they told me someone had put in a bigger offer and they had accepted it. After falling in love with the house I wasn't happy about that so I put in a counter offer that was higher.

The estate agent got back to me saying that the couple was still sticking with that other offer and turned down our bigger offer. I asked what the fcuk for and the slag at the estate agents said had no answer and says they might have got a better vibe, wtf!

What pisses me off about the situation is the way they were when we viewed the house, I went with my newborn and missus and she loved it. The way they were, talking about this house being perfect for my new daughter to grow up in has really pissed me off.

I honestly feel like putting the fcuking Windows through and killing their cat hahahaha. I expect a phone call off the estate agent because the message I sent to the speccy eyed prick house owner is not pleasant to say the least. I hope the deal falls through and they end up living in a cardboard box the fcuking rats!!! ???
