LaddyLurcher 261
It was the pups turn to get out today for an hour for its first ferreting session, I know a small wood with little 2 and 3 hole sets that are easy to do and usually hold a rabbit or two, first couple of sets were empty the third set I entered my favourite hob and in 2 mins a rabbit hit the net which I left to see if the pup would grip it, it didn't quite know what to do and by the time I intervened it had kicked it's way out the net and escaped, one for another day! Next set was a easy two holer I netted both slipped in the ferret and within seconds a rabbit bust out the other hole the pup was on it in a flash this time, the pup visibly exited now after being praised was well aware what this ferreting game was about now. A couple more empty sets followed before we came across two main holes and a bolt hole, on went the nets down went the trusty hob and after a minute or two a rabbit hit the bolt hole net pup was on it straight away with the ferret still attached to the other end. We ended our session there to keep the pup keen, all in all a lovely morning and bit of one on one with the pup. 5 Quote Link to post

LaddyLurcher 261
Yes, my deerhound lurcher started off ferreting and it fetched him on no end plus ferreting is one of my favourite forms of hunting along with Lamping, I shoot also but mainly ferrel pigeons n the such to do the farmers a good deed, helps in gaining more permissions. King. 215
She's got some nice weight on her aswell laddy nice to see a pup carrying weight. I remember starting my lurcher bitch at 6 months old about 10yr ago her first time out netted up a 3 holer Jill went in and within 10seconds 1 hit the net in front of me and a few seconds later 1 hit the net about 8ft from me. My pup grabbed it and held it in the net until I could get to her. I was over the moon with her that day. And she turned out to be a very good ferreting and lamping bitch. I hope she does you proud laddy. Edited November 8, 2015 by King. Quote Link to post
