me my mate and his lad have had around 80plus fish from same stretch some recaptures. Get up your pics.atb

Just started getting the kids fishing the river

There's no better fighting fish in the UK imo.rather catch a double figure barbel from running water than a 40 lb plus carp.highly addictive once you start lol.atb dc

good pics Dc,your river seems more classic barbel river than where im fishing ,i even have silty stretchs on my river and they do feed on it ,at first i avoided and stuck to faster flowing gravel stretches ,but have recently tried the silt and it does produce !Is this normal for barbel or have they just adapted to what is available? Also what are your views on barbel in stillwaters?my boss just come back from a weekend at westwood lakes lincolnshire, and happy hed caught barbel out of the lakes ,i said far better from a river !

The ones I've caught from lakes I kindly put back into running water ;)the river I fish is slow unless carrying extra water, but the bottom is a mix of deep holes in bedrock, gravel and weed,silt/sand I catch from them all-depends on time of year, water conditions, time of day .if you hit it at the right time you will have some sport imo.atb dc

Yes mate the wye-it has some good numbers of fish all species, coarse and game- only thing it doesn't have is zander-none that I've heard of yet.atb dc

Dont wish for em DC. Apparantley they blitz once they take hold. Another imported good idea. Im guna target them for first time this wonter on the trent. I will be knocking first couple on head and taking home, they are meant to be excellent eating fish.
