Just started getting the kids fishing the river

There's no better fighting fish in the UK imo.rather catch a double figure barbel from running water than a 40 lb plus carp.highly addictive once you start lol.atb dc

And there is something extremely romantic about it all, surrounded by proper nature, not 2 ducks a moorhen and a robin you see at fisherys. Proper nature, otters, mink, deer, kingfishers and if your night fishing the mist on the river during the sun rise etc.

No place I'd rather be that waking up next to the Severn and spending my day next to it. The hard fighting barbel are a bonus...

My Oldman has fished for just about everything that swims in the sea,big trout and salmon fisherman.he used to rip the piss that I course fished and never had any interest in doing any.he came and fished the wye with me and a mate.when the rod tip flew around he was up and running for it lol-picks up the rod and does a super strike-bait runner was on,fish rips off down river and starts emptying the spool.I'm rolling around laughing at him shouting turn the handle lol, well I have never laughed so much watching him reeling it in with his knees knocking pmsl-I could tell he was loving it,15 mins later we get it in the net- went 12lb 4 ozs! Jammy cnut! Lol-The smile on his face I will never forget lol.admitted after that pound for pound they will take some beating.he can't help telling any of my mates how it was from his years and years of experience and not beginners luck.:).atb dc

I like the feeling you get from a barbel ,the feeling that your not going to land it, the feeling of not being in control the feeling that's its more than got the better of you , the panic etc , always been the fish for me , touch ledgering at sunset feeling the line tremble on your finger before the take ,awesome fish
