You've a million times more chance of getting a working Patt then a Bull,Wheaton,Irish or Bedlington and that's a FACT!! We have some Patts, fearless, granite, mute,no reverse EVER and great amongst kids

My young lad has been pestering me for a running dog for a while so I said I would get him something small ...he has proved to me that he is ready after seeing him work his spaniel . I have been look

Ive talked a lot with Bosun, about adding working terrier blood when I breed my small bitch in a year or two. This thread has gone off comparing bull type to earthdog blood. I dont really understand w

why not use Irish terrier, wheaten or Airedale if its a Terrier x your after, surely be less wastage as less pups be small

Because how many of the above breeds are truly tested in fact how many of the above breeds are even worked?

there is deffo working wheatens about, and deffo lurchers bred off the above doing most lurchers jobs already out there. And of we talking heavy work, them surely the extra size of bullx would be more beneficial. Suppose proof in the pudding tho, wo when you starting this line?

There are a few wheaten a doing it but how many average lads can get access to it .its the same with bull....as for bed die the only thing that's brings to the mix is coat

Wheatons are tested ..pure Wheatons and Wheaton lurchers ...which is in fact the whole end goal of this topic..pat lurchers...what is a pat Lurcher going to offer that a beddy or a Wheaton Lurcher hasn't already given??

I no people are going say ...well there's more black terriers been tested than beddys and Wheatons but realy this is about lurchers..and there's already tested (time and time again ) Wheaton and beddy lurchers out there ...

Bit like reinventing the wheel when there's already one in the boot

Let's be honest, how many bull crosses that make the grade are actually out of good bulldogs? Very few if any over here I'd say.

I have been looking to breed my bitch fly and many thanks to all the lads that have offered me there dogs as service ...I was going to do it this year or early next year but I have no need for another big dog I have fly that is 4 and MOrphie who's 2 .

So now comes the eureka moment I had ......fly is definitely worth taking pups from she has it all drive ,wind, pace just a good honest well bred bitch that makes it look easy ...I have a patt that again I would breed from a well bred leggy rough coated dog that is very biddable and trainable one of the best terriers I have owned not just for digging but he is used beating ,shooting wildfowling just a handy little tyke to have around you ...he has seen plenty of work and is near retired at 3 1/2 .....so I'm going to take a chance on putting these 2 together it may work it may not but nothing ventured nothing gained at least my young lad will get his dog and I will know exactly where it's came from ...I'm sure the lads that know the parents will be interested how this goes and anyone else interested give me a shout

My pal had a collie whippet decent little bitch and put a patterdale with 1/8 bull in it over her the pups come out like miniature bull lurchers he kept one for himself with the best shape and it chuld run lol watched it on rabbits a few times was a decent little mooching dog caught him endless amounts of pheasants and plenty of rabbits it chuldent catch them all like but it tried hard it reminded me of hare coursing but on a smaller scale was a smart little dog

I only got as far as Pretty Girls and Gorgeous Boys and thats enough for me to switch off.

Same here, does my f***ing head in all that caper, though the pups still might turn out ok. Just does my head in reading/listening to all that soppy, cuddly drivel, then in my head I'm thinking 'right, time to f**k off'
