timjim 43
hi guys, i am new here, have been away from air rifles for over 15 years now, have been scouring the airgun forums to check whats a good .22 spring powered hunter these days, and i have done alot of reading reviews etc, and have come up with the perfect gun for me, the airarms tx200, i cant believe that this gun still holds its own as it is the model of gun i had 15 years ago, my previous gun i had to that was a hw77k and the tx200 was far nicer to shoot, has tecnology only moved on with the pcp`s ? i love the simplicity of a springer, but are they dying out ? thanks Tim Quote Link to post
lurcherman 28
depending on the kind of shooting your doing for example a few rabbits daytime then a springer would be fine but if lamping i would use a pcp simply because of the noise theres up's and down's with both the springer never runs out of air but the pcp is more quite plus more accurate with there been no recoil its down to personal choice lurcherman Edited November 21, 2007 by lurcherman Quote Link to post
mad al 146
Tim, stick with the springers, I've had quite a few PCPs from the Air Arms S200 to a Daystate Air Wolf and an Anschutz 2002, still have these three, BUT, I have recently bought a BSA Lightning XL, have a HW95K and yesterday it was the Air Arms Pro Sport that I went after tree rats with. The TX is a brilliant rifle and another to consider would be a HW90 (Gas Ram), real class act. Good luck Quote Link to post

Good luck i have considered some of the hw models, but have heard they are not that good out of the box anymore, need to be stripped, rough surfaces smoothed down, polished regreased and put back together, even heard that some needed new springs straight away as the std ones looked like they were cut by a blind man with a sledge hammer, certainly different from the hw77 i had many years ago, the tx is the one for me, pro-sport is a little expensive as the new rifle is goin to be a xmas pressie off the good lady wife cheers guys Quote Link to post

I love the feel of a spring, but paramount for me is weight, accuracy and how quiet my gun is, and I am getting that from a pcp. By the way, I'm a traditionalist who shoots a longbow over recurve or compound bow, so its horses for courses, I feel I can afford a bad shot here or there target shooting with a LB but on quarry with an air rifle I take what advantages I can afford.
