Hello.

After the other nights shooting rabbits I started to skin and dress them and found in one of them what seem to me to be some form of eggs within a large liquid filled sack attached to an elbow joint. Then on closer inspection noticed another under the front leg so I removed the to front legs and there was two larger sized sacks attached between the shoulder blade and ribs. The liver was also damaged.

I have never come across this so would like to know if anyone has.

Can anyone tell me how to attach pictures so I can actually show what I am talking about.

Ohgh! Do ye have to?!

Sounds like worms, mate. That's the egg cysts. Interestingly, back in the mid 1920's, a bloke called Mark Hovell (a Rat Catcher) theorised on a connection between Cockroaches and Cancer. His hypothesis was that the 'roaches brought the worms eggs to people. Those eggs then did, in man, what they've been doing in that rabbit. Hovell then reckons though that the outer skin of the 'used' cyst is left there and later prone to developing cancerous cell.

There. Bet ye never thought ye'd get to learn That from shooting a rabbit!

Tapeworm cysts sounds like, they can be both internal and external, normally found down the lumber region, but can also be found in the jaw of the animal, and around the joints of the backlegs. but whats to stop themgoing to the front legs............. :icon_eek:
