roybo 2,873
Some will yap through eagerness ,particularly if there not much about and what is about is off in to the hedgerow as soon as the lamp is on them, Just take his learning a step backwards and if possible get him the easiest of rabbits for a while and build his confidence back up...and don't run with another dog ,as it can become as race between dogs, one to one time on the lamp may help. 2 Quote Link to post
roybo 2,873
I wouldn't Get rid because of a couple of yips btw Unless he is like a fox hound that is lol Quote Link to post
Wild-Bill 500
If the dog catches I wouldn't be bothered, if he's to busy yapping rather than running 100% and missing then it would be different story.. 1 Quote Link to post
thebiggerdog 160
The dog I'm on about is possibly the keenest dog I have seen and he only yaps when a rabbit turns 180 degrees and makes a little gap then once he is back to it he doesn't make a sound but he will yap when he loses a bit ground on his rabbits, is he a good rabbit dog arm no he misses more than he catches he yaps less frequent than he did but it frustrates the hell out of me. I keep thinking he will grow out of it but I'm not to sure getting him checked out by a good boneman might be a good idea, it could be an injury making him yap, trapped nerve, spine out of line etc. Quote Link to post
