I agree with WILF (for once ). There's more to consider than just your own views. I really couldn't care less what happens to me when I'm gone. They can take what they want and put the rest in the skip for all I care, but if my family really didn't want to see me chopped about, I'd have to reconsider. After all it would be them dealing with it, I wouldn't know a thing.

As much as I'm usually against the state sticking their nose into my business I do accept that it's part and parcel of living under the protection of a government....

 

This is one of those situations which I would support. It does not infringe on any of my freedoms. It still allows me full freedom to have whatever I want done with my body after death. It forces people to make the decision rather than ignore it, the consequences of ignorance now being positive (lives saved) rather than negative, which I'm always in favour of.

 

Nothing will change, those that don't want to donate will now simply speak up rather than keep quiet and those that are too lazy to care what happens to their corpse when dead will be used for good.

 

Lives will be saved and as far as I can see nobody has given up a single freedom.

 

Plenty of folks will disagree with me and there are going to be plenty of questionable situations that need thought....

I like your positive and well thought out opinion and I cannot criticise anything you have said. I only hope that this measure is not the beginning to an end of some of our freedoms. I give credit to your style though.

I've already opted in, I got talked into it by a pretty face in Exeter 4 years ago ha . . I don't think what others decide to do with their organs should have any influence on what we do with ours. It's a shame not enough folk signed up voluntarily, that way it wouldn't be mandatory like it's going I suppose.

See, when you start looking and see all the shit they are putting in our food in order that companies like Monsanto, Tesco, Wal-Mart, McDonalds can make massive profits then you have to say it's all arse upwards.

So what you're actually trying to say, in a long winded way, is that you are all for organ donation as long as it doesn't help a Muslim, Indian, Paki or other similar brown person. Haha.

There's plenty of white muslim converts mate, no doubt some will need transplants at some stage. But its not just that, as Wilf says they could do a lot more to improve health in general, clean the place up, agree to a sugar tax, ban f***ing tobacco, close all the Mc Donalds...ect, stop people carrying genetic faults breeding, or limit them to one child...........but no mate, their answer is to guilt trip everyone into allowing their organs to be used for spare parts to prop up their failings............Just state control.

I will probably be unjustly accused of racism again just as you have on this thread but I agree I would donate IF I had a say where my organs go. It is easy to say how could you not donate to this poor child, and I would donate to an innocent child but what if my organs went to some wealthy paedophile or worse a politician lol. The poor and the downtrodden will only benefit after the well to do take what they want and it does put us one step closer to becoming an 'organ farm' to be harvested at the leisure of those in power. Maybe that is negative and paranoid but if you look through history or at the worst of the present, humans are capable of some sick sh!t. Haha I salute your different view Truther and I laugh at people who would think I would want someone else's organs with my point of view. I would stick those organs up their rectums before being held to ransom or emotionally blackmailed with this crap.

I look at it like this............The leaders could do a lot more when it comes to preventable illness, but they want to bleed every last penny out of folk, just like a farmer gets every last penny out of his stock, so they let companies use unsafe chemicals in food, sell tobacco, alcohol, refuse to adopt a sugar tax on food and drink that's directly responsible for making our kids obese, type 2 diabetes will become rife in years to come, costing the health service billions...............but all ignored for a profit........to prop the situation up they now want to make organ donation mandatory, most likely they know the nations health is going down the pan and organs will be needed to prop the population up, they don't want to have to beg for them, but aren't willing to lose profit to stop it happening...............herd of cattle mate, that's all we are

How many British doctors are registered donors? .............no figures...............42% of Canadian doctors are registered donors.

 

How Many Welsh doctors have opted out? ...........no figures.

Should be illegal under race laws, but its ignored by the BMA, government.

 

Its a bit harsh, but mending naturally faulty people just creates more faulty people, some medical conditions could be completely eradicated or greatly reduced by not letting carriers breed, Hemophilia for eg But no, we want to play god and weaken our own species, its not like we're endangered is it.

I worry about the future of working lurchers when I see the idiots on facebook and forums posting behaviour that is seen as barbaric, idiotic and paranoid on a daily basis. Of course there are idiots in every field but these can be countered when decent people answer but it seems that increasingly on forums I see post that I, and any decent people, find abhorrent. It seems that these are gaining acceptance and challenges to even the most paranoid ranting’s seem to be diminishing, rather there seems a growing acceptance by their peers. The worst are just the psychotic ranting’s of a few un-medicated souls but when those who are challenged or even get support we would seem to be in a dire place.

 

I would consider myself a decent person yet I take part in a sport that is seem by a very large portion of society as cruel and marginalised. Perhaps this very marginalisation is the problem, as those less likely to be wish to be linked to a pastime that is viewed as cruel and often involved in illegal activity the remainder become increasingly skewed to the more radical and less conformist members of society. This group by their very nature then become increasingly separate from normal society in a self-propelling downward spiral. Basically you end up with the dregs until the few remaining decent people are marginalised out of existence. I know there are still plenty of decent people involved in lurchers but alas feel that these are becoming a minority whose voice is getting lost in the cacophony of noise from the increasing tide from the fringes of our society. When those few remaining sensible voices no longer feel that they can voice their opinions I feel we are lost and that point seems to be approaching fast, even other country sports see us as yobbish thieves.

 

 

So have we lost so many of the decent “normal” members of society that could drown out the few psychotic idiots until we are fast approaching the point when the lunatics have taken over the asylum?

And why do you think you have such a right to be the judge of what is right, normal and decent? You must think that you are so perfect that you set some sort of benchmark and those who are not like you are paranoid lunatics. From what you have posted here you are an arrogant and judgemental person with delusions of grandeur. Could it be people form different opinions because they have had different experiences to you? Could it even be possible there are people out there who know more than you? I don't know if that is possible for you to comprehend but I suggest you give it a go.
